There's some quality tools made in Taiwan. I think Tekton and some of the older Craftsman were made in Taiwan.

I not saying that that Made in Taiwan tools are bad. I just expect a certain amount of value for money when I buy Made in Taiwan and China tools.

I try and avoid blue point as i find it overpriced ,however i've got a set of reversible ratchet spanners and they are great, no different in price to other taiwan made sets either ( gear wrench ones are not sold in the UK ).

Before the Internet the idea of a lower cost line sold on the truck made sense. As is true in many industries we no longer have to get our product information from the salesman (an inherently biased source). That reduction in information asymmetry more than anything else has empowered buyers of all types of goods to get more value for their money. Now if we could only stop inflation...

Actually right now the 12pc Carlyle set is like 125 plus tax which is a fantastic deal for the quality you get

I can't speak to Williams ratchets but I was underwhelmed with their combination wrenches. Bought a couple from Amazon for use with my lathe, and sent them back because the for on the fasteners was very sloppy. The Protos I bought to replace them were excellent.

I bought the 8 pc pliers set, then ended up buying the 8 pc mini pliers as well. Their pretty good, i use them daily. The teeth on the needle nosed & curved needle nosed are wearing out, but they carry the same warranty as snap on, so if it fails, just trade in for a new one.

I've got a couple sets of Blue Point sockets and love them. I've not ever owned a Snap-on set but for a weekend warrior the Blue Points do just fine. I actually like my Blue Point sockets way better than my USA made Craftsmans, and some Gearwrench sockets I own. I own a set of Craftsman RP USA wrench sets, Gearwrench, Blue Point, and Tekton. The set of wrenches that feel the best in hand is the Blue Point followed closely by the Tektons. For ratchets I have owned the ratchet that you are looking at. I ended up selling it because I didnt care for how the handle felt in my hand. I ended always either grabbing my old Craftsman RP or long handled Cornwell in 3/8 drive and either my Cornwell or flex head Gearwrench in 1/4" drive. I think that the Gearwrench ratchets are hard to beat. I've looked a few times are the Tekton ratchets but haven't actually bought one yet.

I would never buy blue point tools. When you can buy the Williams equivalent for far less. Hell you can buy USA made Williams for less than Blue Point off the truck.

Blue point is almost as smooth as snap on but it has a lot more slop, doesn't have the length or flank drive.
