Snap On's "Hot Tools"

The April issue of Hot Tools came out and I asked my driver to order me http://store.snapon.com/Hose-Clamp-Socket-Socket-Aircraft-Hose-Clamp-P773726.aspx and http://store.snapon.com/Long-Miniature-Awls-Hooks-and-Picks-Soft-Grip-Set-Miniature-Awl-Pick-Long-Soft-Grip-Green-4-pcs--P644357.aspx in green.

The socket is STILL yet to even ship and this has been going on TWO FREAKING MONTHS...:shocking: Isn't the purpose of the "Hot Tools" flyers to promote specific tools that are actually available for purchase?!? I find it incredible that there is no stock to be found...anywhere! I was told by the franchise owner over four weeks ago that they would ship on the 23rd of May and then this past Wednesday it is now the 4th of June. WTF!

And now for the picks: I requested that they order the picks in green as pictured (again in the Apil issue of Hot Tools). which have the instinct handles. Over a month later what shows up are picks with the older style handles. Yes, they will work just as well. But...it's my money, my tools in my toolbox, and I asked for the instinct handles and that's what I want. Funny thing is that the set with the insinct handles and the older style both have the exact same part number. The link above to the picks is the handle style that I received, but yet what was pictured in the catalog even is the instinct handle picks on the lower right hand corner of page 159.

Immediately after the driver left, I contacted the owner of the franchise. (the driver himself was brand new and I didn't have his number) and explained to him what I wanted and to please order them ASAP so that I would have them soon and not have to wait another month to get the correct ones. Of course he forgot to tell the driver anything at all about it. Now the new driver called a wharehouse and was told that it would be at least two freaking weeks before instinct handled miniture long picks would ship in green.

I have spent $,$$$.$$'s of dollars on Snap On tools over the past two years and will be still adding more tools unique to my job. However with that being said I am more than a little dissapointed in promoting tools on a sort of monthly special and then to not even have them available.

Ok...finished my rant.

Life is too short to get worked up over such things, have you called snap on directly to see if there is a supply issue?

you have a really bad owner and route driver,i've never had that poor of a service in almost thirty years of dealing with snap-on.i would call snap-on directly and tell them about this issue and get the name and number of the regional manager.

Not necessarily as it looks like the aircraft clamp linked is showing out of stock on the site, regardless of how good the driver is, if it's not available there really isn't much he can do. Maybe snap on had overwhelming demand? Dunno.. That is why the op should simply call Snap on if the dealer can't give him a reliable fulfillment date.

I've never seen the long ones with mini instinct handles, just the soft grip per the picture. As far as I know only the regular picks have instinct handles. Not for nothing but i'd probably fire you as a customer if you had a conniption fit over the handle style of a pick set.

Yes. My frustations are with Snap On regarding the socket. It's being promoted in the flyer, but yet stock is nowhere. I sent my driver (at the time the franchise owner) a text asking him to order one of these sockets and a set of the picks...again both from the flyer. He forgot to order them until I asked him about it two weeks later. Two weeks lost right off the bat.

Lol.. Don't take it personal but we are just talking about Picks right? Specifically a color combo? Don't get me wrong, it's your money and the pictures of all the Color correct tool box drawers are cool to look at, but "2 weeks lost right off the bat"?

Reminds me a pedestrian the other day as I stopped my engineer when he cleared a derail and he had a crossing about 3/4 blocked and this guy standing there starts mouthing me, and insinuating that I "Get off, blocking crossings" I casually walked up to him and reassured him that absolutely, every morning when I get up I can't wait to beat him out of 30 seconds of his day, while he waits on the locomotive/cars to move, everyone is in a hurry in today's world.

I forget **** all the time, especially when the wife sends me texts requesting specific groceries etc.. Maybe be a bit more personal with your dealer and give him a call next time.. Just a thought. Good luck.

In my origional post I referenced the picks pictured in the lower right corner of page 159. I beleive that's the same catalog that's been out for years now.

When the driver called Snap On's wharehouse this past Wed, the person he was talking to on the other end didn't know what instinct handles were? Claimed he never heard of 'em.

Sorry that you feel as you'd "probably fire me as a customer" I am cetainly not the biggest customer on their route, but my KLR1023 and the over 5k worth of tools that I bought from him to place in it doesn't exactly make me the smallest either.

Just seen this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Snap-On-Green-Soft-Grip-Miniature-Awl-Picks-4-PcsSet-SGLASA204-/161322156092?hash=item258f8cc03c&item=161322156092&vxp=mtr

The picture of the back of the packaging has the instinct handles...and the product inside the plastic is the older handles. Marketed as new and appears so...:headscrat

I may stand corrected in that ones pictured in the printed catalog have the new handles. Unfortunately, my book is at work and I won't be going back there until Tuesday.

Only certain dealers buy into the Hot Deals program and due to demand in many cases, items are back-ordered.
BTDT.

If you can't touch it, you can;t take it home.
Just like the interwebz.

It's a small thing, but yeah, when you're paying that much, I expect to get what I ordered as well. One of my drivers has given me lip about ordering me green tools when he has it in stock in another color. Well sorry, it's my purchase, I intend to keep it a long time, and I'd like it in green. If you'd like the sale, please order me what I want...

I bought that long pick set when they were on special a couple months ago. My driver actually had them in hand with the old style orange style hard handles. These were exactly what I wanted and I scooped them up and have used them a ton since purchasing them.

I think you absolutely deserve to get exactly what you expected. Unfortunately I guess that doesn't always guarantee it happens in a timely fashion.

I bought the same picks short and long, it took awhile to get them in too. Unlike you though I didn't care about the colors, my short picks are orange and the long picks are red. I drive my friends crazy for the fact that none of my handles match as I never cared lol! Although I'm thinking I need some green and yellow handled stuff just to make it more disorganized lol.

If my driver gave me any kind of bs about ordering green when he has it in another color we would have serious problems. I would think they would be more than happy to get you a special order.

Of course our driver has started stocking green because he knows it suckers me in.

Let's Recap..

1. The dealer can't be responsible for ill information from Snap on in regards to ship dates.

2. Socket is still unavailable on Snap on. Com.

3. The dealer can't supply the OP with the socket till.. Snap on manufactures the socket.

4. The OP ordered a green long handled pick set specific to a part number.

5. The OP received the correct part number.

6. Nobody has verified if Snap on even produces a green instinct handled long pick set and/or it's just a advertising glitch, but sharing the same part number can cause issues undoubtably.

7. Unless you have some inside information in regards to fulfillment dates and updated part numbers, The dealer is more than likely not necessarily the problem, obviously your entitled to your opinion but based off the OP's own posts, I disagree.

I feel that you should get what you want for your money. Especially if you ordered it, then you should get what you ordered. My Snap-on guy will change the handle color on something, no questions. If he has it he will do it and if he does not, then he will get it. He gives good service which is part of the whole deal. Sometimes you have to wait for what you want, he has offered me loaners for when he does not have something.

I think you should have a nice friendly talk with both gentlemen, the driver and the franchisee. Let them know that your desires as a customer, will help you to decide to buy more tools from them. Explain to them what helps you want to buy from them, not just what you want them to do. Give them an opportunity to fulfill those points. If those details are not met then find another person to do business with.

Sometimes things are not in one's control, but people can explain the situation so there is understanding. I think you should have the talk, give them a chance, and see how it goes before trying to do business elsewhere. Maybe discuss why you bought the big box and other items from them in the past, explains how you would like to do business with them in the future. Explain it, like receiving orders in a timely fashion. Explain what a timely fashion is. Think about what you want. Then approach him with the way that you would like things to play out.

Good luck. It easy to get pissed when things do no go your way, but hopefully they were good to you in the past, and hopefully things can work out with some communication.

Again good luck. Think about a positive outcome.
