Supposedly, Snap-on has increased the diameter of their 3/8'' drive soft grip ratchet handles. I'm just curious if any of you guys have had your ratchet handle replaced with the new larger version; and if so, do you like it better?

I recently replaced one of my old beat up handles with a new one I ordered from Snap On. Now that I am reading this it does feel a little bit thicker. Still feels good

They are thicker but it is far less obvious when you don't have both in your hands at the same time. It subtle but a welcome change in my opinion.

However if you can't palm a basketball you might have a different opinion. That's always the problem with grips, hand sizes vary considerably.

Are the new ones still asymmetrical on the "bottom" side? I put hard handles on my rotos because the differing shape bothered me when using them like ratcheting screwdrivers.

Only the 3/8 handles bigger or 1/4 and 1/2, too?

Yes, they have a finger groove. I like them on regular ratchets but would dislike them on rotos for the same reason you do.

I bought the new one to get into tighter spots and the handle is bigger, so it defeats the purpose of what I wanted it for

Just a question - but if the idea was to get into tighter spots, why get a ratchet with a cushion grip and a detent lock in the first place, if the slightly wider handle is what defeats the purpose of getting into tight spots? It seems like all of it would.

Here's some 1/2" action. Pretty sure these have also been 'enhanced.'

that snap-on logo and handle looks so good. the "other" ratchet just looks blah. it is a bit meaty though

It's all going to be personal preference but just like pistol grips I prefer the handle flaring out to match the natural contours of the hand. So I see the new handles as improvements but I'm sure people with hands different from mine will feel differently.

Honestly for what Snap-on charges they should offer custom grips molded to your individual hand.
