I'm thinking about picking up a pair of these. Any updates on how they are holding up from people who have purchased them?

I have nothing but good to say about them so far. They are still as sharp as the day I got them and the joint has stayed nice and tight. I now tend to grab them first almost every time I need to crimp or strip something. I also own a nice ratcheting crimper with changeable dies but I find the small, simple Snap-On's to be much faster and easier to use with comparable crimp quality. I only seem to use the ratcheting crimper when I am doing many of the same sizes connections on the bench. The small size makes these really shine under dashes and in tight spaces. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

If you have Kleins in this small size I'm not sure that you really need to buy these also. Although, in the spirit of the forum, I can't think of a reason not to buy them either.

Out of stock at Snapon.com. Apparently they are still quite popular!

Edit: and also why zessin's friend is asking $50 for them on eBay!

bought a set of these a week or so ago. Nicest pair I've ever owned and I've gone through quite a few pairs of strippers/crimpers in my life (installed car audio in a previous life)! they're a good as any out there (and better than most) but where they really shine is with the compact design. Really nice for under dash/ inside door panel work. my truck guy was telling me he can't keep them on the truck because they've become quite popular. I think I'm going to pick up a set of the larger ones with the black and red handles as well. One can never have to many sets of wire strippers!!

definitely a must for anyone that does any amount of wiring work.

I held these in my hand today while I was on the truck and are very small. I know they are ment to be compact, but I really would like to see the 29cp modified with wire strippers.

i got mine a few months back when they first were on promo. i believe they make them in a bigg size aswell, my dealer has some that sppear to be bigger than these. ive used them about 10 times and they work great. having a smaller crimper works great for tight spaces. and they make a good sold crimp. And the name appears to be etched in somehow. just like on there pliers..

I love these pliers. One place they have been a lifesaver is little carb screws. I mess around with Honda Elites a lot and some times the screws on the bottom are just trashed. The serrated tip on these pliers will grab onto the rounded where a vise grips type will just slip off.

The cutter at the back of the jaws but still on the front is also well thought out. When I'm diving into a wiring harness still in place on a bike, it's nice to be able to isolate the wire you want to cut but not have to worry about cutting the next wire by mistake.

call your dealer and ask if he can get you a pair from another local dealer. mine will do that on unavailable items

They made them in different colors put an O or a G behind he number and try that. I know they had sold a ton of them during Christmas. They were 10% off.
Also out of 100 pair I have not had one warranty issue.

Luckily it's made by Snap On so getting a warranty replacement should be fairly painless.

Oh, and.... your first post on GJ was to post a broken Snap On tool? You're one of those guys, eh? Lol

I've had these crimpers since they came out and use them daily. Not sure how yours broke but should definitely be warranty if using properly and failed.

The OP's picture on page one does not have a USA stamp or laser etch. The broken one, like the one pictured above does have the USA stamp. Strange.

I would explain to my dealer how if he doesn't have to warrenty my tools I dont have to buy his.

Its very strange that he woulsnt offer a to replace them I could under stand if you cut a live wire and burnt them but they appear unabused. My guy will replace things that I wouldn't have ever thought like roll pin punches.(fwiw Snap-on roll pin punches ****)

A month after I got my ct7850 it started having a front bearing squeal. My driver flat out refused to send it in. He told me that's not how power tools work. I called snap on they had me ship it to them and I'm pretty sure they just sent me a new one, if it's not they replaced the 1 month old case.

That driver has seen his sales drop from 1200ish a month from me to 0 and I meet with a different driver off our shop property once a week.

That's the way to do it. No service, no patronage.

There were two different versions of that wirecutter/crimper. The wire stripper part of the tool has different gauge strippers, between the two. There may be other differences.

I noticed that both versions are in the latest catalog.

Different design period

PWCS7 is what I'm referring to.

They changed from 4 different gauges to 5 different gauges I'm pretty sure. No differences elsewise.

I guess I don't know how one breaks any pliers like this. These look like abuse damage to me. I'm sure snap on will inevitably replace them, but if we're a rep, I'd probably seek to discourage customers who could break pliers, pry bars etc

They look like the Snap On version but it must be a copy. The package you posted says made in Taiwan. The SO version is made in the USA.

Seems to be a trend with Mac. I have noticed a lot of their stuff is now coming from Taiwan and China.

Each have 5 different gauges.

Changed. As in past tense. The previous design and the current design are two different things. You're looking at only the current catalog.

There was a thread here a while ago that detailed the problem. The old design and the new design were not the same and the factory had made half old and half new pliers. The strippers did not line up. Snap On replaced them no questions asked.

The Mac set looks like a relabled OTC 5950A.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CDDB81C/?tag=atomicindus08-20
Also available in a angled version. I have both in my tool bag. They are not as heavy duty as my Snap On set I have at the home shop. I really like the angle version . Don't like losing expensive snap on stuff while on the road service. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CDDB81C/?tag=atomicindus08-20
The OTC version is made in Taiwan so that's what makes me think the Mac is in fact OTC with a Mac label on it
