Snap On's Split Beam Ratchet vs PI

Does anyone know if PI uses their own ratchet mech on the split beams or do they have the same mech as the Snap On version?

Edit: I just checked my PI split beam, it has a 32 tooth mechanism and the cover plate is screwed on the bottom side, where as the pics of the SO have them attatched from the top side.

I thought I'd mention that the new SO split beam I used recently had a terrible ratcheting mechanism and I wouldn't buy the SO thinking that it will be better because of its own ratcheting head. I haven't used a PI but it couldn't be much worse in my opinion.
