My father has never warrantied any of the Snap On tools that I have givin him. I was just interested as to what would happen if he did.
According to Snap On's written warranty policy, before they will process a warranty, the following information is required:
(1) date and proof of purchase
(2) where customer purchased the product
(3) full name
(4) shipping address
(5) phone number
(6) e-mail address
(7) item number(s)
My guess is that he would not be able to get warranty through the website. The warranty would probably have to go through you somehow, perhaps getting your mobile dealer to do you a "favor". That's just my guess, and to me, it seems like a lot of hassle to get a warranty on an expensive tool. If Snap On really does strictly enforce this "very limited" warranty, we may see a dramatic boost in sales of SK and Craftsman tools. SK tools are not cheap, but SK appears to have a very "buyer friendly" warranty. As far as Craftsman goes, a good quality USA made Craftsman ratchet will do the same job that a more expensive ratchet will do. It may not have the longevity (although I've seen 40 year old Craftsman ratchets that still work well), but if it breaks once a year, you can get a new replacement for the bubble. So, investment wise, aren't you still ahead of the game?. Just my non-bias thoughts.... no offense to anyone intended.
