Please recommend a snap ring plier set. I have a multi use craftsman two plier set with removable pins and it's time to upgrade as these are good in a pinch so they will go to my off road tool bag. I am open to all suggestions. Thank you for all of your help.

get the wilde set from epstein's or an old channellock 907 if you can find NOS or just pick up a used one... i've been very happy with both of them. the wilde set has a little larger selection of tips, but has separate tools for internal and external snap rings. the 907 is a one tool convertible. bonus is the wilde and channellock are compatible with each others tips.
i am _not_ happy with the new channellock retaining ring pliers, that replace the 907, the 927. they do not feel well made to me. i wouldn't recommend those (don't own, just tried in store).

Knipex snap ring pliers are tough as hell. Snap on has some very good ones as well. Snap on is a little cheaper than the knipex and swap between internal and external saving tool box real estate but the knipex are better if you don't mind spending a little more and having a drawer full of them (if you need a wide selection). The interchangeable tip channellock style are a nightmare my snap on driver doesn't even want on trade and for my purposes they are to bully and time consuming to make me money
Personally I like having the sets with the replacable pins, just for the fact at some point I will bend the tips. I would also say don't limit yourself to just one set. The ones that reverse and reatchet lock are nice but they can be a little bulky and get in the way sometimes.

Takes some serious doing (vice and a heavy hammer) to bend the knipex. They are crazy impressive. If my snap ons ever bend new get dropped of at my hangar, but the steel on them is really impressive but not quite as rigid as the knipex. Interchangeable tipped ones like the channellock or blue point are to often to bulky and cumbersome when using two different sizes on the same job, at least for me. Not that they are low quality or anything.

Check out chadstoolbox they have a really good price on the sets. I personally went with there precision line over the original but imo knipex is the best for snap ring pliers

I have a whole bunch of different ones, I took all of them home except my Craftsman's (Kastar), same as Channellock 927's. I like them on the industrial equipment I work on, they are fine for me!
