I need to invest in good set of these. The ones I have now constantly let the interchangeable tips flop around. I want a good set of internal and external pliers - suggestions?

I've been very happy with my ChannelLocks brand. I think they are around $20 most placed and you can buy a set of replaceable tips for $5 or so.

I've got a few Wiha snap ring pliers both made in Germany and made in Vietnam and they're all very nice. They also come up on super sale on Amazon from time to time if you just watch the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread. Also Knipex are obviously very nice.

+2 on channel lock with the changeable tips. Used them for years with no issues. Tips dont loosen up.

I have a few Proto versions that look just like the ones in that Lang set but were a lot more $. Thanks for the link to the Lang set.

I have the Knipex precision set that came highly recommended by this forum.

They're pretty good, better than most. My only gripe with them is that due to the size of the forgings near the inserted tips, they can be difficult to work with in tight spots. Otherwise, they're pretty nice.

I have the Lang made blue point 3 size set, wouldn't trade it for the world. Multiple replaceable tips, internal or external rings. well worth the money.

I have the Lang set & like it very much. I don't think you could go wrong with that. Prefer it over the convertible type.

Damn you guys. Now I am going to buy a set of Lang pliers and I have a full set of Snap-On's from 1979. Didn't know I needed them this bad, but my last name is Lange (I spell it right).

If you want to buy your last set of snap ring pliers ever, go with Knipex or Snap-on (the forged version). Those two are the best sets currently available.

I have the craftsman/ channel lock convertible pliers and hate them. They flex on tight snap rings and can't remove them. I have a set of craftsman that have multiple sizes and they are much stiffer and don't let me down.

Nope. The wiha Magic tips got them both beat. When I was buying mine I tried both the knipex and snap on and the wiha was by far the nicest. All three are great but the wiha just grabs the rings way more securely.

I'm sold on the Lang set from Amazon. I think they're the best for the money and I can't imagine ever wearing them out unless all I did all day was snap rings. They've been great.

I got the complete knipex set a few months ago and I'll never look back. You pay a little more upfront but it'll be the only set I'll need.

Have the SK set with interchangeable tips. I was initially going to buy the Knipex pliers but the SK was on sale at Amazon.
