I need a larger snap ring tool. My standard ones are too small for the jobs I have been getting. I bend my small ones or I just don't have the strength to squeeze the smaller tool on these larger snap rings I am running into lately.

Snap on is back ordered and quite expensive. Can anyone recommend a larger set that won't break the bank?

I simply have not been able to find any better than the Snap On ones for big stuff. I know they are expensive but you only buy them once. Not sure what to say if they are back ordered though. If you have a part number I can ask my guy if he has a set.

^ Snap-on outsources their snap ring pliers from A & E (Lang).

You might check the A & E (Lang) website and see if they make larger sizes.

I have Matco rebranded Knipex,
do not go for reversible if you want strength.

if you want good stuff you want knipex, even the channel lock with the interchangeable tips will do (I have the largest they make and the 2 smaller ones too). Awhile back when harbor freight came out with icon i saw these knipex styled snap ring pliers they had. Seeing as I really only occasionally use them I figured why not for 50 bucks. Well worth the 50 bucks i think

Snap-on used to outsource to Lang, they now manufacture their own:

I got a set of Matco because my father-in-law is a dealer. Fantastic pliers but pricey! Buy once, cry once.

sorry,I bought some craftman at lowes, again, im sorry
but i really like them, four pliers for $29
The set in the link below? For what it is worth Icon has a 4 piece set that looks similar for about $40 and comes in a hard case. If anyone owns the Icon set I would love to know what you think of them.

I remember the Walden branded pliers coming through the Navy supply system, they were generally adequate and certainly they were the lowest bidder.

I got a Icon set from Harbor Freight - not sure if they are the size you are looking for.
I bought this Icon set from HF but the pins were all too big for the snap rings I typically encounter. Had to return the set. Might work for you however.

I've bought or tried more of these than I can count and none of them even come close to the Knipex. Snap-On included and I loooove Snap-On tools.

The Knipex are expensive, but they're worth more than they sell for.

Depending what job you’re doing, specific snap-ring tools might be out there. Doing the front wheel bearing on my Super Duty, Lisle made a specific snap-ring tool for that, which was basically the only tool that was getting that job done. Of course, I discovered this after monkeying with it for hours.

I hate when that happens.

Thanks. That is disappointing but good feed back. Where they small light duty snap rings that they did not fit ?
Thanks, I think Kaster and Lang are now the same company. People here generally like Lang tools. Odd that the delivery is 5 to 8 weeks.
