I was looking at buying one of these since my cheap infrared temp gun has died and the Milwaukee is outrageously priced for what it is. Has anyone purchased? It looks like I can get just the temp gun for around $170 and it will work with my cordless ratchet batteries. The temperature range seems good but is it worth the price over the dewalt version?

Seems like an awful lot of $$$ for a temp gun. I guess it depends on how often you will use it. I don't use one very often so wouldn't be able to justify the price but if you use it daily, may as well purchase a quality tool.

I work on generators and often need to know coolant temp or oil temp, on the diesels I'm constantly having to watch EGT. The cheap ones will only run 700f this one supposedly does much more.

I need to read 1500f preferably, the cheap ones I've had usually don't go above 700f

I own this temp gun. I bought one because i dont have one currently and this think works with my current batteries. Like you I just got the gun I have like 4 batteries already anyway. Its a nice gun and its well built. However aside from the dual pointers its really nothing special. I dont have really any experience with these things but I did bring this gun home an run threw all its features one night.

Its got a good range and a back lit display. Its got an alarm if you want it to sound off when it goes over or under a certain temp. and you can change the way it reads temps based on what type of material you are pointing it at. If you use this daily id say get one it already works with your other batteries and its a pretty nice gun.

Oh and the gun comes with the temperature probe's for liquid even if you dont buy the kit.
