I have a KR557 and the metal tab that locks into the slider is broken off the drawer.

Anyone have any ideas on how to repair this?

Drill a hole all the way through the drawer, then through the slider and used a nut and bolt or go with a large sheet metal screw. The tab just holds it in place, right? It doesn't support any weight? Can you fab up a small piece out of new metal with a tab already made and weld the entire piece on? I don't think
Welding just the tab on will work, but maybe.

How about using a cut off wheel on a Dremel and slice it back an inch and bend it outwards?

This may work. A bent tab with a sheet metal screw should work. The piece broken just holds in the drawer, I have 2 KR557S and had the pleasure of messing with these things.

The tab needs to ramp up on the sheet metal piece so the slide tab can ride over it. It may not be be pretty but the drawer won't fall out or be cocked when you open it.

Good luck!

I would bend a small piece and weld it in. It needs to be in the same spot it was otherwise the drawer will be crooked when fully opened.

I will try the sheet metal screw idea than maybe weld if that does not work. That is a pretty small weld.....

They sent me new sliders for my dad's 557, old sliders (box dated 1978) had a nice twist to them from the weight on the box.

You can get a small chisel and raise the area to become a new tab.
You can also just weld a bead there and it will become the new tab. Grind the one side a little flat so the little spring thing on the slider has something to catch on.

I have done both ways

Issue is not the sliders and they told me they do not make those drawers anymore.

I guess I would have to also modify the other side so they are equal...?
