there are a bunch of "buy it now" snap-on f80 ratchets on ebay right now, with prices like 39.95.

did snap-on announce something at the dealer show that would cause the price of those ratchets to soften so much?

i know that there is a thread about the soft prices seen for tools on ebay recently, but this seems sudden and dramatic.

Just grabbed another "new" F80 a couple days ago for $47 shipped off ebay. Don't really care what caused the price drop, it allowed me to replace another junk ratchet.

$40 dollars is good value for money, so grab one if you need a standard ratchet.

If you're looking to flip stuff ... maybe don't take huge risks until tea leaves are settled

Maybe there was a recent "buy one get one free" that included an F80? For $40, I'd grab one if you are in need of a nice 3/8" ratchet.

Strangely, some prices are much lower, and on the flip side some things on eBay are selling when I would never have guessed they would be wanted.

That's a good deal if it's legit. I think I paid about $50 for mine on Ebay a few years ago. It's a damn good ratchet and it's usually the first one I reach for.

Well all this is good news to me.after looking all weekend, and making a couple of offers, I just pulled the trigger on a F80 ratchet that the seller countered my offer at $40 plus $4.00 shipping.I looked at a few that were priced at $40,but some were pretty ratty and the shipping was high.,so I passed on them.I made my first sale on eBay today of some spare Snap On sockets , so I figured I might help pay for the ratchet if everything sold soon. I will see In a few days when It arrives.

Paid $50 for mine with shipping from a guy on Craigslist. I'd probably buy another for $40 if I saw that deal.

Just checked eBay, didn't see any buy it now remotely close to $40.
