Snapon instinct screwdriver hard or soft?

Is there a thread about the difference?

I am just wondering I bought 1 flat head hard handle instinct of the truck last week for 20$, to see if I like the feel of the handle( which I love). But I have also read the soft grip ones give you a better grip in the hands. I am just wondering as to get which soft or hard.

Here is the set I am thinking about buying

I have both, soft is more comfortable and increases friction. If you treat your tools like **** get the hard handles.

I like the soft ones, but they just don't wipe clean. If you don't like greasy fingerprints, you'll probably be better off with the hard ones.

I've decided on the soft grip instincts. I personally don't care what they look like after they've been used I just need to be able to get the most grip I can get. Also does anybody have any pics Of their soft grip instincts they'd mind sharing? Thanks all for the suggestions and helping me choose !!

Cheers

The soft snap on Instinct drivers are not as soft as the previous generation soft grips. The color portion of the driver is a hrd plastic but the black is softer and grips awesome. They are the best handles of any drivers I have ever used. Surprisingly my craftsman pro drivers are a close second.

Here's my two. The only screwdrivers I've worn out is the reason I bought these, a T25 in red and a Phillips #2 in orange. The T25 has been properly cleaned, the Phillips was quickly wiped down after the last use.

Thanks mike for the photos. I'll take a look at the soft grips on the truck this week. I'm sure sold on the soft handled instincts in red

That is not true. Spray some wd40 on a rag and they wipe clean like new

That's what I was implying. You can just wipe grimy fingerprints off a hard handle with no solvent - they just wipe clean with a rag. The soft handles need some kind of solvent with the rag. You can see my T25 has been cleaned since last use. The Phillips was just quickly wiped.

If this is for automotive use buy the Philips, for flats buy something else that has striking caps because you're just going to abuse them for the most part.

Yeah I never understood why they have half a dozen slotted screwdrivers in the sets. U either use a normal one or a big one. I don't understand having a bunch that only differ by an inch or two in length

Fluff, putting pieces you don't really need in sets so you pay more for a "bigger" set. Similar to how they put the stubbies in the 8 piece set, have 2 regular Phillips (#1, #2, but no #3) and 4 flats, but I want the 6 piece set cause it comes with 3 of each, flat and Phillips (#1, #2, #3), but then I need to buy the stubbies separate.

I hate it when they do that. So instead of buying one set that works for all, you buy two sets and then toss the extras/redundant pieces in the spares box. Or piece it together separately.

Anyways, I like the hard handles. I don't own them yet, mostly cause of my dilemma posted above.

I'm going to agree with this. All flats to me are different sized pry bars.

This is why i bought the SO/williams hard handles. 19 piece. I kick the poop out of these and they look awesome and easy to clean.

BTW, save your money OP and don't drink the SO kool aid.

Honestly if I would do it over I would never even buy the snap on screwdrivers. But my red handled instinct drivers now are probably too dirty and stuff to sell for any decent amount of money.
I just feel the handles are way too big in diameter

Has anyone tried the Snap-on diamond tip phillips screwdrivers? Supposedly the tips last longer.

Dealer had some orange ones on promo last year and was about to send them back, it was the 6 piece set. He threw in the stubbies for free to make the sale and I took it home. Already have a set at work. Wouldn't use any other driver out there. CMan Pros were good, but they're no more. Break the tip on one of the german brands, what are you going to do? Oh yeah, they never break, sorry. Snap on haters will hate, but their screwdrivers are worth every penny. I actually like the older soft grips better, I think the handle had more bite in your hand, but the instincts are a lot more durable and just as good on feel.

I have the hard handles. I've always used hard handle style screwdrivers so I gravitated toward them out of habit - probably from using my grandpa's old red and yellow hard handle MAC screwdrivers when I was a little kid. I do have a set of Snappy soft handles on the way though, so we'll find out.
