SnapOn ripoff...

I'm interested in the SnapOn Flank Drive Plus ratcheting combo wrench set 14 piece 6-19mm SOXRRM01FBRA.
It retails for $795 and includes a foam storage tray. The wrenches individually are only $675.75, so you are paying the extra $119.25 for just the foam.

That's interesting. Usually the sets reduce the per item cost, although not very much.

Nice set I have the 10mm to 22mm set, great wrenches, came with the plastic tray. I would have paid extra for the foam set but it was not available at the time.

Why would you pay retail? Look on ebay. WAYYY cheaper.

I'd be willing to bet that the dealer is not selling them at retail price most of the time. Sets, that is.

I'm looking at a set of 4 of the larger flank drive plus wrenches to add to my existing set.

Out of curiosity the other day, I added up the individual wrench prices and it was considerably cheaper than buying the set. I was surprised. It's not like they come in some fancy foam or expensive rack when you buy the set. Just a cheap wrench roll. Not nice enough to cover the cost difference. I wouldn't even use it.

I figured that situation was a fluke but I guess not.

Every foam set I've seen on my dealer's truck is marked down significantly. He's currently got foam sets with every size metric and sae flank drive standard length combo wrench marked down nearly $700 from MSRP.
