I'm driving across the Country soon, with all my stuff, and I'm trying to cut down on weight and space. I'm not sure what really to ask for this box plus some tools I used when I started my apprenticeship. Personally I love having a basic tool set at home, and I really don't want to sell it... but I don't want to be overweight with my SUV and Trailer on such a long distance.

Too much? Not Enough? Risk it?

Oh man... Maybe it's full of SO though... I know techs that use the crappiest boxes but they're full of great tools, and one of those guys is the best tech I know.

How much would you say it weighs? I mean is it really going to push you way past your threshold? If so sorry to hear that you have to sell your tools!

We'll I have a lot of other tools I'm bringing. It probably only weighs like 200ish... but when I took my truck home from work, my Toolboxes were on my trailer, and it got a little squirly at higher speeds (without the rest of the stuff I'll be bringing with me). I can try re-loading the trailer, but I think it's loaded pretty well (gross weight ~1700lb, tounge weight ~210lb) and really balanced side to side. I noticed the transmission working overly hard with the weight, it's a 2000 Ford Explorer, I have a ****** cooler about 14" by 10" but I'm worried about overheating the transmission, even though it's not THAT much weight, with overdrive off unless I was coasting downhill... Explorer trannies never inspire confidence.

I'm selling the vehicle once I get out there for peanuts, I just don't want to breakdown, or have an overly squirly load..

You are asking too much for the group as a set
The more tools you bundle the bigger the expected discount

Sell the good wrench sets and socket sets separate

Put the crappy and MIT grade tools in the box and sell that set for $300 and it will find a new home

I think you're right Bob, I'll let it stew on Kijiji overnight, but then tomorrow I'll make a few more ad's. I have some older snap-on ratchets and stuff to sweeten the socket deal anyways.

Down here in Western New York , those boxes are selling for less than $200.00.Your box looks like it's in very good condition. It would be a shame too sell it. I would take it with you if possible.

Take with you! Selling yourself short at 700! Better off KEEPING IT or parting it out!

THAT IS VERY CLEAN BOX will sell for over $200 here in Long Island,NY! For some reason these style boxes are becoming highly desirable! I own 3 :) VERY VERY CLEAN!

I wouldn't sell unless you really need the money. It will cost a lot of money and time to replace those tools.

If it were me, I would do whatever it takes to keep them, you may even need them out on the road. New replacement tools just wont have that "feel" of your old tools. Plus, that box is just too damn nice to sell!

Well on the road I have my work tools, a 40" SO box, with a top box, jammed full of Snap On, Mac, US Williams, Matco, and other really good brands. None of the tools in the Red top box are junk though. I do really love the box, especially because it's made in Canada, and it's really heavy and strong.

I seperated the Silver Eagle sockets with the hanson trays, and added a Snap-On F731A to the mix and I'm asking 250. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...Matco-Silver-Eagle-Sockets-W0QQAdIdZ503592841 I'm putting what I think is a fair price, I'm not having a fire sale or anything. besides... If it gets to squirly on the way, I guess I could just google the nearest scrapyard and add a leaf to the rear end.
