Snappy 3/8" Li-ion cordless impact- Worth it?

Starting this past January, one of best friends became a Snap-On dealer. Since he is just starting out, I'd like to help him out and pick up some stuff.

One of the tools that's got me giddy is their 3/8" Li-ion cordless impact. Specs at 320 ft lbs of break away torque. It's nice and compact and fairly light. Seems well designed and, the part that I love, made in the USA. Comes with two batteries and a hard case.

The price is steep, but since he's new he can include a set of 3/8" full swivel impact sockets.

My buddy stated guys at tire shop he sells to use this for everything but the 3/4 ton or larger trucks so I know it's got to have some balls.

It is definitely more than I wanted to spend, but I like the fact it has great torque numbers, it's compact and it will help out my buddy.

I want to use it for tire rotations, under hood and brake work. I'm a hobbyist and not a pro tech.

Other guns I was looking at were the compact Milwaukee Fuel and Bosch 1/2 units. Only the Milwaukee was the torque of the Snap On 3/8ths. The Bosch compact unit isn't close.

Curious to hear from those that have this tool and what you think of it after the honeymoon period.

Its not made here, its assembled in the USA. Charger is Chinese, batteries Taiwan.

I recently purchased this tool, and I was actually impressed with what it has done. It's not as strong as the half of course (also 2lbs lighter) but its taken crank bolts off multiple cars including wheels. And will last for a couple of days with once charge. Also if he's throwing impact wobbles it almost justifies the price.

I was told by everyone one in my shop not to buy snap on cordless tools . But I went ahead and bought this gun, the first week I had it I did a engine rebuild on a school bus vt365 engine it took every bolt off but the large head bolts torque at 300ftlbs. I did the hole tear down on one battery hole day of use on one battery . Then reassembled On one battery .After that the other 3 techs want one now . Ahahaha

I have the older 14.4 Nicad version, and it has become my go-to tool. I rarely use air anymore.

I've had this impact for a while now and except for an early trigger switch failure (fixed under warranty) it's been great. Good power, low weight and long run time. Here's the but.....asking it to do wheels is a bit much. Now the 1/2" cordless impact is well suited for this but the 3/8" will struggle on lugs and some brake caliper bracket bolts.

I use this impact constantly at work for teardowns on most anything but I use the big gun on wheels.

They have a ton of power, feel pretty balanced, and have a battery life indicator!! $599.95 is hefty, but there's a special where you buy the CT8810 and get the 207iplfm (deep metric swivel impacts) for free!!! Not bad of a deal concidering it's a value of over $956.

Yes, my buddy would throw in the swivel impact set with the deal. I didn't realize those sockets retail for that much. Wow!

So... Technically he should be able to swap out for the shallows! I'd go for it

I wonder if mine doesn't have the power any more when I first got it, it seemed like it did anything now there has been many things it wouldn't remove. Wish I had a skidmore.
