after a year and a half of having my MG31 deafen me while under trucks on trans bolts i got my dealer to give me a muffler kit(handed it to me out of a new box and said take it...nice guy) and i installed it...much quieter now and my ears don't ring anymore:lol_hitti

anyway, the reason why i took so long to get the muff is cuz i've heard from other guys at work and read on here that it reduces the output...i ain't put it to the test yet, so i'm curious if anyone here can answer me either way...

ps, if you don't have a 3/8 impact yet and want the best in the world, get the 31 or 325...damn thing will loosen 1 1/4 crank bolts...and they're as light as a feather

It does reduce it, fairly miniscule though. I value my hearing more.

yeah it's amazing how quiet it is now...you can actually hear the anvil engage when you pull the trigger...as opposed to the ladies in the front office hearing the whine it used to make

They definitely lose some power with the muffler. Same with the 1/2" gun. I think any impact gun loses power with a muffler as opposed to running it without a muffler. The Snapon guns are extremely loud without the muffler, but pack a lot of power.
