This likely means you didn't put enough of the stops on. Many people just put one or two rows of stops on and think that is good but on big areas it can require a lot more.Enough snow rips the stops off and mangles the roof.. been there done that.
we use bar type snow stops all the time. All over Canada. They don’t rip off, even with lake effect. Stick on ”snow shoes“types also work alright.You would find those things on the ground after spring thaw. Might work in mild climates where the snow is all gone after a week, but not where it accumulates for three months.

Anyway, lots of ways to keep the snow on, or off, the roof and they all seem expensive when done right. Areas that get a lot of snow are a big challenge to deal with.
Most of the conversation appeared to devolve into the usual GJ overthinking and recommending a complete teardown and rebuild. That's when I lost interest. As usual, GJ participants can find a multitude of ways to make a simple solution into an expensive, complex one. The roof structure needs to be designed for the snow load, obviously. The continuous angle iron snow fences won't get ripped off if anchored properly. This is also why you see multiple rows of snow fences to spread the load. But hey, feel free to suggest that the OP do a complete teardown (or roof removal) to fix this problem.You missed half the conversation it seems.

1/7th of a good snow year, and 1/4 of a typical year in the snow belt.
Winnepeg also has 320 days of sunshine per year, compared to 154 in the lake effect snow belt.
I’m sure sticking things on the roof work just fine there.
For safety its gonna need a new concrete pad first, gotta do it right or we'll all die.do a complete teardown (or roof removal) to fix this problem.
