What are your opinions? I'm looking at getting into one of the two lines. Brand name aside, which is a better 3/8" impact? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have the mac 12v 3/8 impact and the snappy 14.4 1/4 ratchet. Both perform very well. The ratchet is deffinatly better then mac's version. No to the 3/8. The snappy is smaller and i believe has more power. But i don't regret buying my mac it works well has descent battery life. If u ever plan on buying the ratchets and other tools i would go with the snap-on 14.4v stuff. Much more compact and more powerfull.

I have the snap on 14.4v li-ion 3/8 impact and couldn't be more pleased. Great power, compact size and lightweight. The lights and progressive speed control are great too.

Thank you devoncoolman and ElasDray, does anyone know how much torque the snap-on puts out?

The 3/8" Mac impact is a nice rig. It's rated at 150 ft-lbs and while I never achieved that in testing, I did get 135+ consistently.

I use the 12V Mac impact, ratchet, and drill on my ATV race trailer and have been extremely happy with all of them.

I own the 14.4V impact, ratchet, and screwdriver. Works great. Paper spec is 120 foot pounds for the impact, not sure it puts out that much but i'd definitely say its working torque is around 100. The only real complaint I have is that the batteries are a pain to release from the tools. Snap-Ons warranty is also only 1 year which I think is appalling, and I've already had to warranty 1 battery. Also I think they should of made a boot for it considering its nearly $400 for the kit. Mines already pretty well beat up.

The DeWalt 12v MAX stuff is also nice, I have everything but the impact wrenches for home tasks. With the promo on Amazon the 3/8 impact kit can be had for $85 which is an awesome deal. Not sure how much the MAC flavored one differs but I see its impact housing looks lengthened compared to the DeWalt so it may very well be more powerful.

In terms of physical size they're about the same.

Some other differences worth noting

Snap-On uses a rocker trigger for direction, MAC has the standard button above the trigger
Snap-On batteries are 2.0Ah, MAC are 1.5Ah
Snap-On recharge time is 55 minutes, MAC is 40 minutes.
Snap-On is made in China, MAC is assembled in USA (I think*)
Snap-On warranty is 1yr on everything, MAC is 3 years on the impact and 2 on the batteries
Snap-On batteries are proprietary and costly, MAC will interchange with off the shelf DeWalt.
Snap-On is ~$380, MAC is $300

I have the 3/8 Dewalt 12V Max, which I gather is similar to the MAC, maybe a little lighter duty. It has done everything I wanted it to do, and has a surprising runtime. I got mine with 2 batteries and a charger for $65 at a pawn shop, like new condition, so I didn't really do a lot of comparisons. I have plenty of batteries due to having several other 12v Max tools, but it is awesome that you can go pick up a new battery for less than $50.
DeWalt states the torque on their tool is around 96 ft/lbs. Seems about right. If I need higher torque I usually am using half inch anyway.
I am sure the MAC is better, and the Snapon may be better yet, but for the money the DeWalt is awesome.

You guys know MAC and Dewalt are owned by the same company? The Snap On body is made in Tennessee, batteries are in China.

I have the CT4410 an older model and it has held up pretty well. Would recommend it, haven't used the Dewalt.

i love all my 12v max stuff.. i was just comparing the 12v max imapact driver to the m12 one i just got.. i honestly like the dewalt alot better, (its shorter, smaller, lighter, and better lights) but they drive 3" screws dead even..
