Hi,

I have SO air ratchets and soon to have Die grinders.

They all use a fitting on them for greasing the heads etc which is the same.

I'd like to buy the tool for greasing them but im having a hard time figuring out what i need.

This appears to be a tube of grease and the fitting head but according to my dealer that's just the head.

Can anyone shed any info ?

You want the second .....one tube and greaser. Might want to check amazon for the ingersoll rand greaser probably cheaper.

Do these greasers allow air to escape? If not, how do they pump grease into a closed system?

In the case of the air ratchet the grease comes out the seams of the ratchet mechanism as it's not quite a sealed setup. With most impact guns I believe the hammer case itself isn't fully sealed, and the pressure isn't necessarily held in the hammer case itself when pumped with grease. You an equipment guy? Just wondering since you jumped right to this question. Anyways that's my .02

I've never seen an impact gun that takes grease that's sealed tight. Normally it'll allow air to escape around the anvil area. As for die grinders and air ratchets, there's no seals in them to hold the pressure, so air can escape.

I ask because I was trying to grease an air tool, I forget which one, with a grease gun adapter and it would not inject the grease into the tool, it just made a mess. I'll have to buy one of the IR grease kits and try that.
