Why even bother asking a question if you're going to ignore the advice most of the forum gives you? No one is saying it's a bad welder, but for how much it costs there are many better options with better parts availability, support, and warranty.

Notice how nobody is recommending a particular brand, yet we are all recommending buying something with known product support. Every welder will eventually fail; the one who farmed production out to the lowest bidder will fail most often. Look at how frequent HF changes suppliers; how much support do you think you will you get down the road WHEN your HF welder fails?

Please report back after you've had time to run some wire through it. I've been looking at the 215 for a while but haven't pulled the trigger yet. But honestly it send like everyone that buys one loves it.

What we're saying is that there are other brands that offer better warranty terms, better support, better service and a known quality for the same price. Then you have the "big" brands like Lincoln and Miller that offer fantastic support/service/quality - albeit at a premium.

When you factor that stuff in, the HF welder with its poor 90 day warranty and HF's historic abandonment of its products is not nearly as tempting as it seems if you plan to keep the unit for a long time.

I don't give two shits if other people comment in the thread . I asked about a particular product and answers from people who actually have it, but in typical fashion, people post all kinds of irrelevant responses ( and they are irrelevant no matter how you spin it). par for the course here. i'm ******* shocked nobody has told me to go buy a snap on welder yet

I wish I had some real world experience to offer, but mine is still sitting in the box unopened, under the unopened welding table, that I got to teach GF and her 11-year-old grandson to weld, plus someday I'll actually get time to install 220v in the garage.

People that regularity shop at HF are fully aware of the "90 day warranty" but know for the most part it's really a moot point.

For the OP let's us know how the spool gun performs when you get one.

Im almost always in the buy a miller, hobart or Lincoln camp, but for the price of the Vulcan welders, and if it really is a 1 yr risk free trial to buy it, I'd say its worth a shot. 1 year is a good enough amount of time to figure out if its going to hold up for a while or if its a piece of junk and you can get your money back after a few months. I'm with Emerald...the guy above found a site with consumables for the the Vulcans..Emerald is a hobbyist welder.
If he wants to buy a lifetime of consumables,he can.

About 15 minutes welding time with the 215. My neighbor bought one and was having some issues setting it up. The gun that comes with it is junk. If it’s all you can afford go for it. Just please quit bitching about not getting direct, precise answers to you questions on a “Discussion Forum”

???...what do you mean? I stated that i welded with it for about 15 minutes. My neighbor bought one and called me because he was having an issue with it. The problem was in the wiring that he ran for the outlet. His buddy came over and fixed that issue. I gave him some pointers on how to set it up and burned a bunch passes why he watched. It welded fine for the little bit that I used it. The gun is flimsy junk in my opinion.

I've heard that about the gun....there are a bunch of you tube vid reviews as well.

There are replacement guns for it if you ever want to upgrade it. However my stock unit works great, if the gun ever breaks there are parts available to replace it. A quick search turns up usaweld, they offer a "heavy duty" upgraded gun, flex nozzle head, different length hoses. There are some aftermarket parts available. But like I said, it welds great and I am very satisfied with the money I spent. It is a nice welder right out of the box.

My neighbor runs a welding shop. He has mostly used junk. Stuff he finds used, already broke he is going to fix. Well,,, he buys something like an Everlast, 500$. It welds well,, welds great, uses it daily for 5 years. It up and shits,,,, he has been doing without looking for parts, a board cost 300 or something. Cant stand it,,, its hard to explain that it would have been different if this had been a Dynasty cost 5 grand but 500,,, throw it away and get another one. He cant understand that it was only 500 to start with and its fully depreciated, he made 10000 $ with it.

Buy another one,,, but what if it breaks again in 5 years? He would be in to it for a grand, 500 at a time, 20% of what the Dyn would have cost 5 years ago. I also bet that Vulcan isn't a welder company that started up out of the blue but made by one of these others.
