SO Dual 80 Ratchets

I was checking ebay for a deal on these ratchets and was searching with "Snap-On ratchet 80" to pare down the number of offerings. What came up were plenty of legit looking Dual 80 ratchets but also several much older looking ratchets that also claimed to be Dual 80. Can older ratchets be updated to Dual 80? Is there a way to tell when looking at the head? The new ratchets do have those torx screws. Most of the old ratchets being offered as Dual 80 seem to be from pawn shops.

What these inept and/or misleading sellers are doing .......................

is searching for the part they actually have which is now obsolete,
and the SNAP ON web site is showing its current similar replacement and current price.

These sellers want YOU to believe they are selling same wrench as SNAP ON site is
showing as replacement.

I'm selling my 2006 car and showing you picture of same car/model/brand 2010 with 2010 price and wanting you to believe this is what my 2006 is ???????

No you can't update them to the dual 80 guts.

No they cannot.

Most of the old ratchets being offered as Dual 80 seem to be from pawn shops.

People who work in pawn shops don't know the difference between an F730 and an F80.

Also the dual 80's have the torx screws on the bottom not on the top.

I have sent a lot of ebay messages to sellers asking them to correct their auction.. Gave up after 50+ or so. Its a lost cause! I agree most seem to be pawn shops.

they go to snap on .com and type is ie sl936 well it automatically pulls up the sl80 instead and people are not smart enough to realize there is a difference. If you buy one of these tools you could really argue that you want what was listed.

Yes snappy gives the current info and doesent tell them that there model of ratchet is discontinued so they may not know.
I have a brief letter saved on my computer that explains this and I too wrote many sellers to explain.
I had one guy from a pawn try to argue with me over his 29 year old ratchet.
Make sure you verify what part # is on the ratchet handle and don't go by there description.
Many people are using the pics from the snappy site also so if they do this make sure you doulble check the part#.

If the pic of the ratchet shows two screws on top it is not a Dual 80 ratchet.
The older models can not be updated as the new ones are completely different.
Buyer beware ,double check if you have any questions.
