Does anyone know how long the double rebates program will be going on for new epiq boxes?

I want to order a new box but my dealer is not budging on the retail prices. I want to wait it out untill he works out a deal with me, but dont want to miss the double rebates ($1500).

Thanks in advance.

Personally, find another dealer. One who wont deal a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR+ METAL BOX doesn't deserve your business.

Dear god, this.

I'm pretty friendly with my SO guy. I've been looking into buying a (used) KRL722, and he's been trying to sell me on a deep discount on a new one. He told me what (he claims) he's paying for one... at full price, he's at 100% markup, give or take a few bucks. I don't know that he's being 100% honest on his cost, nor do I have any reason to doubt him, but if that's not true, then he's going to overstate what it cost him, not the other way around.

If he won't budge on something he stands to make thousands on in one shot, tell him where he can stick it. :dunno: I don't expect anyone to give me anything, or not make their fair share, but don't think you can mark something up 100% and have customers not bat an eye.

Ask your dealer when the toolbox special sales guy might be around. I forget what SO calls it, but it's another tool truck loaded only with boxes and the guy can work better deals. I juts got offered a heck of lot better than a 1500 rebate on an Epiq.

When the SO tool box truck came by he was not giving any deals. All the boxes were regular price minus any rebates.

Where are you at? They were just at my shop Monday. The district sales guy was a lot more helpful, the guy that ran the truck was kinda a *****, and not at all interested in making any deals for me.

I think he offered me $3600 on a KRA2422, after trading him my (decent, not new ****) 40" Husky top and bottom. I could probably get my driver to do that, without the trade.

Thanks for the replys guys.

I am looking at a 68" powertop Epiq. Whats goin on is that he has one in stock and is pushing it hard on me, but I cant stand the color. He is willing to give me 1700 off on top of the rebates for the in stock box, but not a dime off an order....

I have never bought a new box, but this didnt seem right. I am very tempted to buy one from another dealer. I know for a fact that is a minimum 2500 if not 3500+ commission, on a 11K toolbox.... I would probably even go for some "spending money" on his truck. But I dont feel like paying sticker price for something I dont NEED.

Its nice to see that Im not the only one who feels this way.

Thanks.

I beleive it's the rock and roll truck. The guy that was in the truck that I saw was very nice, very friendly and we talked for about an hour about options and such. After he did the math and gave me a price, I didn't see the need to haggle.

Now the price you got for the box he had in stock isn't a bad price. But if it's not the color you want then who cares... If your dealer isn't willing to place an order for that same box in a different color for the same price, then definately get a new dealer. Sounds like a *****.

Work is on the edge of Wash. DC. The toolbox man was here a few weeks ago. Since I had not even been thinking about a new box lately, I'm sitting on / mulling over the quote 'till I'm actually ready. Sales guy was great - good attitude and knew his stuff -- he started his sales pitch with all the "other guys" tool box spec's / info for comparison. He had the price of a 84" box / workcenter and one side locker / all the bells / whistles with 6K off in incentives / rebates.

Update:

Called another dealer, he quoted me over the phone 2K off list price to start with..... BUT he told me he couldnt sell it to me because I already had a dealer.

So I called the Snapon Regional Manager and asked him to give permission for this other dealer to sell to me. Naturally he asked why and I explained. Less than 15 minutes later my original dealer called me back with a whole different tune than he had before.

Bottom line: I am getting the box I want at a price I feel fair.

I will surly post up pictures when it arrives.

Thanks for the input!

Good end but in the future don't admit to the fact that you have a dealer already. In essence make it a private sale on their turf, and there wont be a problem using another dealer.

Interesting, wonder if it was the same guy. The one I talked to had the attitude of a car salesman.

907, Good to read your getting what "You" want. Everytime you get or return a tool you will have to see the box colour for many years, might as well have it give you a smile.

After quoting over the phone, he asked where I worked...

What was the color of that box he was trying to unload on you? I'm curious.

Flat Black. I saw it in person, it looks tuff and industrial but I am going for something ****. It really is a nice box, just not for me.

I think that was the best thing he could have done... It got his dealer to change his tune and offer up a better price. Maybe the guy will play ball knowing that toolman isn't bashfull about saying screw you and going to another dealer.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't like that either. Flat black is fine for a wood burning stove, but not a tool box that costs $10,000. I've seen pictures of an Epiq in royal blue and it looks stunning.

A flat black tool box would scare me. I've had to back into many shop bays unable to see much through dirty windows and with the sun throwing the bay into shadow. I want people to see what's back there!

I was just quoted for a 68" epiq with a matching welded 3 drawer roll cart after my older snapon box and the double rebates (which ends for my dealer on friday 12/21) was $6500 or $40 a week for 5 years.
