CWP, they are not the same as the old ones, in my opinion. When I got the 10 piece hook/screwdriver/magnet set, the quality was definitely not there. The logos were printed on the handle, the steel shafts were a lot cheaper, shanks not knurled etc.

CGV69- I work at CVG and if you need the Snap On guys name and number I can hook you up.
Thanks - I'll send you a PM

Not saying your right or wrong but can you explain how you determined the shafts were "cheaper"? I have the original sets of the mini hooks and torx drivers (bought off the truck almost 20 years ago) and none of them have knurled shafts.

It would be great if someone can post some good pics of these new sets?

If you look at the old sets of flathead and phillips, the shanks were knurled and the torx had a hex bolster. The re-issued ones have neither. Two of the new picks broke the first or second time I used them, not blaming SO for that one necessarily. The part numbers are not even the same on the individual picks and drivers.
For example:
old awl 3ASAA
new awl SD3ASAA

I am just sharing my experiences. I was not pleased with them.

Thanks for the info. ***** that the newer mini HH's weren't up to the snuff of the older ones but that doesn't necessarily mean these new cabinet length HH will have the same "issues" does it?

yes but my dealer does not do the promo/flyer stuff :(
However, if I had the elusive part numbers, I could at least get pricing.

So, dumb newb question here. Why are these 'hard handle' sets coming back?

What did they have before, and I guess I'm confused too, since the only screwdrivers I have have hard handles. What else is there?

Still waiting for these over here in United Kingdom. I work on truck and plant in a very dirty enviroment. that soft grip rubbish is awful. it's a ***** to clean and after prolonged use they become 'sticky' i much prefer the shape of the old handles too. had a much better feel. i've never taken to the instinct style

My dealer charged me 127.95 plus tax. He only got 1 of each color -- red, green, orange. He did get two of each smaller "normal" sized sets at 108.95 each.

Honestly here is the part number.. Ordered a set of Green and Orange

SDDX70AG-Green
SDDX70AR-Red
SDDX70AO- Orange

List on them is 149$ CDN or 139$ US

I haggled my dealer down to 129$ a set.. He's keeping a secret until after Xmas for whatever reason. He said I was the first to order a set...

those are the standard sets, the thread is dedicated to the Long shank screwdriver set that is partly released to the public. the SDDXL70AG is not a valid number on the website yet. the standard sets have been available since last winter when I got 2, and a racing set prior to that :rocker:

jeffmoss26 you are totally right about the new snap on screwdriver set, being that the SNAP ON logo on the handles are being laser etched (inked) on. They use to be engraved, now after use the snap on logo wears out and rubs away over time. How cheap is that .... I just bought a 3/8 Drive Dual 80 Flex Head Red Hard Handle part # FHLFD80 and looking closely I noticed the Snap on Logo was inked on as well. lame...
I guess it must cost a lot of money at the snap on production plant to run machines that engrave the snap on logos on screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.

Don't use brake clean on your new hard handles. My THNFD72G logo is almost gone from cleaning it!
