Hi

I have got some orange hard handle ratchets but the handles have seen better days.

There quite marked with general use and most of the scratches are black so it really shows up.Plus the actually shank of the ratchet is quite dull and slightly pitted.

For the handles i thought about going over it with some 600 grit, then 1000 grit wet and dry and finish it off with polish. Not sure about the shank though.I am trying to sell them so looking there best would be good.

Any advice on what is best because i have never done it before and i can't find much on here about it so thought i would ask.

we just replace the handles with new ones.... I havent seen anyone re-do a plastic handle.... you can get the handles now in orange and black, you just have to drill them to fit your ratchet.

If SO still makes the handles, why don't they just stick some screwdriver shanks inside of them since so many people love them? Do you have any idea?:headscrat

If the are making the handles again, can you give me the part number of the handle for an f747a, I think the replacement handle was an SDD4R10R, I would like to order them online if I could.

search for posts including the words hard handle numbers i think that will give you the handle numbers.
Not sure which one would work best on the 747. the handle may be a little bigger than your original one.

There was a post at one time about restoring the handles.Somebody was sanding them I think and I think maybe Elroy was dipping some in acetone?A search here should bring the thread back.

How do you bring them up on the website to buy them? I can't find the part numbers for some reason.

Well i have done them now.

I started with scotch bright to get rid of all the deep bits.
Then i used 210,400 and 800 wet and dry paper(wet).
Then went over it with steel wool to get that vertical lines they have.
Then i polished with t cut.

What are the part numbers for the black ones for the screwdrivers? I have a Number 3 Phillips old style hard handle that has shrunk up. I would like to replace it with the new style hard handle. TIA
