Haha how jealous would people be if Lowes miraculously decided to switch back to being made in the USA and you could warranty Taiwan for USA. :spit:

there would be a mass breakage of taiwanese tools... warranty department wouldnt be happy... :headscrat

Oh hell yeah itd be chaos at the Customer service desk.

It would be awesome though if one of the three big box stores would commit to a High quality made in the USA line of tools.

I can see it now. Eleven guys rush to buy the expensive USA built tools. The other 973 gazillion tool buyers would be at the other store buying China made. A couple thousand would be polishing their Snap-Ons complaining about both of the other contingents.

I haven't used the Kobalt tools at all. I carry a pretty big set of Husky tools in my car thought and I've been pretty happy with them. My father-in-law carries Kobalt in his car, but I have never used them... just seen them in store. I did take apart my Husky ratchets and lube them up!

I have a lot of kobalt tools, and haven't broken anything. Nor have I come across any defects.

Broke a couple deep sockets by kobolt, but it was an easy exchange.

Then again I've broke snappy and crafty deep deep sockets as well. There's no such thing as an unbreakable deep socket.

If I didn't have as many tools as I already have I'd buy more kobolt brand tools if I had a need.

Lowes is a NC based company so I have no issues buying things from them

Back in 2003 or 2004 Kobalt had a real nice set of black handled screw drivers I bought for my work pouch. I ended up latter on putting them in my roll away because they quit making them and could not be replaced. I purchased the blue handle ones for my pouch and even though I thought the blades were about the same I never really liked the handles as much. Today I still look over Ebay from time to time hoping to find another set of the older ones.....

I agree, it would be nice. Problem is who is still left here as far as a large scale domestic tool maker goes? Who can still produce a line a high quality domestic hand tools at that price point anymore? That old relationship between Lowes and JHWilliams for the original Kobalt line was likely the last time anything like that will ever exist. Things like that used to be quite common here back in my day - good quality domestic made tools offered at a reasonable price and readily available at a retail level to anyone. We'll never likely see anything like that again with any big-box store. Even the high priced truck brands and industrial brands are outsourcing more and more lately.

although sears craftsman line is going overseas, the craftsman industrial line are still made here, so there are still plants making USA tools. but its very unlikely any box store will slash their profits to bring back USA tools IMO

I really do not think majority of the buyer really care. As long as they are happy with their tool, I do not think there will be a mass warranty problem.

Yeah this is true. Itd be a hassle to warranty something. If you've got a tool and it works fine, then why break it on purpose?
