So I found this big vise...

In this pic, what is the "lug" on the upper part just to the left of the mounting point, facing the camera? Is something broken there??

Any info on this one? I've been looking for a big heavy bench vise, this one seems to fit the bill. Value? I know the guy selling it, he is not wanting to give me a price. What would you feel comfortable offering on it? However now that I see the floor jack in the background, I'm kinda interested in that as well. Keith

I'd say it's a repair of some sort. I wonder why some letters are missing off of the side?

If it were me, I'd offer no more than $100, but then that is me.

Offer him a little more than scrap value as it looks like it'll need some work to make it usable.

It's a guy in my Jeep club that's selling it. We're not tight friends, he's selling some unused stuff, I've asked him for a price a few times, and he just won't lay down a price. I'm happy in the $40-50 range. I'm thinking he thinks it's worth NIB Wilton money but is afraid to say that because he knows it's not much more than scrap iron in its present condition. Keith
