So is a multi-speed pump preferred for slab heat?

So I am getting ready to order a Taco 007 to pump fluid through my small two loop heating system and I dont think the Taco 007 is a three speed pump (?), should I look into other options that will offer an adjustable flow rate?

3 speed pump will make it easier to adjust the flow if your calculations are wrong. once you find the setting that works good, you'll leave it there. you can get a 3 speed pump for about $10 more than a single speed. I use the Taco 00R pump in my system:thumbup:

Thank you! I have been searching all night and saw the 00R and figured it may be my best bet but I was not sure!

Thanks for the link also!

They were designed as service pumps . Plumbers could stock a few units covering a wide range of models.

Make sure to compare the 00r to the 007 flow charts and see if the 00r is a direct replacement. There are quite a few different 3 speed pumps available with way different useful ranges. Who spec'ed your 007. We had pexsupply spec our pump for the domestic side of our system and they got it WAY wrong. Even given part numbers. They spec'ed a 007.

To answer your original question, if your math is right a single speed pump is all that you need.
