Took me a couple of months but I've finally read every thread on this section of the forum.
Of course some got only a glance, while others I read right through.

So what are my conclusions? Most of you are completely mad. This is OK because so am I - look who just read all these threads

Oh, I have a Snap On spanner (wrench), it's 1/2 inch if I remember correctly, but I'm not quite sure which box it's in these days.
Can I continue to hang around here anyway?

I started in April and have been at it ever since. As a journalist I can speed-read and I haven't read right through every post.

Absolutely fascinating, the way some of you feel about tools is almost more important than the jobs you carry out with them.

Any one who sits and reads 112,000 plus posts about tools must really love them. The only thing better than reading about them on this forum is buying and putting them to use.

As I said in my intro post I work for a newspaper (Gannet owned) and a magazine devoted to Land Rovers. Running those old vehicles means I use my tools a lot.

"Mad" is a compliment - like some of you have said, I read all those posts, I do not claim to be sane. Don't think I want to be to be honest.

Recurring theme is ratchets - I own four or five, my favourite is a 30 year old pull through that has never let me down. I don't think any of them have a name on them. I could look I suppose.

Like I said, I have one Snap on spanner, I don't think I have any Craftsman so I really couldn't compare. Not sure that I'd want to anyway.

Yes, I am just as mad as yiou lot, I can't resist buying tools, but one thing this forum has done is make me realise the value of buying old tools, better quality and often better prices.

I wish we had pawn shops like you guys. Like Moose once wrote, ours are just jewellery and or hi fi rubbish.
Car boot sales, jumble sales and charity shops (Thrift to you ?) plus Ebay are the best.

Oh... and the one thing I now want more than anything else is an old roller box to restore. Maybe something to do with restoring old cars I think.

Actually, the pawn shops you describe sound an awful lot like te majority of the ones here in the states.

The pawn shops you hear about here are the exception rather than the rule...
