I recently bought this box and was wondering if anybody know where to find info on it. Mostly lookin for parts, (it needs new slider for the bottom drawer), age, and value. Wondering if I got a decent deal or ripped myself...LOL

If I remember right, the date should be stamped on the box, correct? I looked as far as the model number and then quit reading last night. Never thought to look for the date....

Now I just need a roller to go under it. It looks strange sitting on the floor! hahaha

Hmm, I searched on SO's site but it didn't come up...
Thanks for the link!

It doesn't show the drawer sliders on the parts list. That *****.

I looked again at the model number stamping. How do I interpret the date? It has an 89 at the very end. Would that be the date?

Pic of it;

What I'm wondering is if the first part listing, (- 8-1618 2 Guide, Nylon $0.79), might be the guide inside the drawer slider? I'm missing one of those and the ball bearings themselves. I think if I can get that little nylon guide and the bearings, (I have 1 for size reference...LOL), I can probably rebuild the slide I have.
Gonna ask the Snap On guy about it this friday if I can find him... He's in my area on fridays...

Any idea on the original cost of this box, or current value as far as that goes?
I paid less the SO wants for the bottom drawer! Hahaha

Hello. Does anyone know the model number of the bottom box that is the companion to the KR690 top box? Thanks.

@1st Warrior: remember too that sometimes you can cross-reference a part that's still being made if a part from your cited list isn't.

That said, restoring my KR537, I wanted the plastic "tips" that go on the end of the locking assembly, but I have had them on order for about 8 months, and they don't appear to be in stock anywhere. Just a piddly little part, but I'm getting to be a purist about restoration.

The heck they didn't.
I have a KR1100 sitting on my KR1000. Made for each other.

To the OP, don't order/buy slides. Contact SnapOn customer service and tell them you need slides for it.
They replaced all the slides on my KR1100 top box by mail. Cost me zero, which it should as they are lifetime slides.
You may have to e-mail them your serial number
The new slides make that long drawer work great.

You all do realize that the guy looking for slides started this thread in 2008 right?:spit:

Hahaha! Yea, that would be me. I think part of this thread must have got misplaced or something. I'm pretty sure I updated it when I got my new slides.

Anyway, a member here, (I can't remember who), got the part numbers of the slides for me and I emailed SO about them. They sent me a new pair of slides, no out of pocket cost, no questions asked.

I've been keeping an eye out for a matching size bottom roller that I could afford but haven't came up with anything yet. For the time being I made a stand out of angle iron and square tubing. The 690 sits on top and my SO intermediate 3 drawer box sits on the lower shelf.

I know a krl761 or a box of that size is expensive but would that 690 fit on it?

Look for a KR660, great box. I was looking for a KR690 for quite a while but couldn't find a decent one close to me, so I just upgraded my whole set up. The KRL761 is 54.25" wide & 24" deep. The KR660/690 are 50 11/32" wide & 21 19/32" deep, so your box will fit on top of a KRL761/722 but it'll be about 2" shallower and about 4" narrower. Here's a picture of my old KR660B with a KR650 top:

It's all good. One guy may start a thread, but others happen upon it either through browse or search, and it ends up benefiting others. I've gotten some helpful info in the past via a bumped thread that was a few years old.

@67427Vette: That 650 is a great box. I love the configuration of the drawers. Simple.

I really liked the drawer setup as well. It allowed great organization. It was a bit of a change going from 26 drawers on the KR660/650 setup to 19 drawers on my current KRL722/791, but I'm getting used to it.

the KR 690 has a "drawer sag' problem , due to no real support because of the full length drawers .I own one of these boxes , but friends of mine who owned the 690 had snap on hook them up with new boxes a few years back ..mine was 3100 bucks in 1990

I realize that this may be beating a dead horse since this thread is so old. But I kind of goes along with what vinko said.

I have the bottom that matches the KR-690. I've been searching for one because I've out grown my KR-660. My choices are now to sell the bottom I have or find a 690 by some miracle.

For what its worth this is the bottom that I've got, 2 drawers are out from re-assembling it after cleaning and replacing the rails that were seized and the locks that were missing.

I'd love to have that box dude772! But since I'm in Missouri and you're in Canada I don't see that happening. lol
How tall is it anyway? Looks rather tall. My 690 is still sitting on the stand I made for it. I like the height of my stand and think the roller cab would make the combo to tall.

I worked with a guy that had both and they are rather tall. I cant remember exactly the height of it. I would say a little over 3 feet tall? I can tell you for sure when I get to work in the morning.

Me being in Canada and you being in Missouri wouldn't stop a shipping company from delivering it :p. Empty its not that heavy and today I located a KRL-722 in that dark green with some of the tools delivered for $3000. I am going to do my best to get to the bank tomorrow then I have more space and expandability.

I took a measure this morning and it is 44" tall. And yesterday afternoon, I took delivery of a KRL-722 and if there is no interest locally I may trade the KR-660 on a side cab. I put a moments consideration to tossing the 660 on top of the 722. but that soon passed haha.
