Snagged me up some Japanese air tools! Been watching these for ages and no decent sales ever hit these things (at least when I'm watching ymmv).

So grabbed this too...sold out everywhere else pretty much except fleabay...thinking it's discontinued, it's not in the current catalogue. It's closeout at Sears too so no coupons have been working on it until now...sweet!

GearWrench 1/4 Inch Drive Pass Thru Ratchet Socket 7/32 inch Sears listed price: $0.84 Effective Price: $0.67
Chicago Pneumatic CP869S Air Sander Sears list price: $266.59 Effective pre-tax price: $170.72

OTD $220.94 with $42.74 back in points so this order cost $178.20 And this deal lives on still!

Got my snap ring pliers today. That was fast. They look awesome. FWIW; They are branded "Lang" mdl #3495 and have orange handles and don't reference Kastar anywhere on them. Fit finish and feel all look great. Kaster must be the manufacturer for several brands. Very happy, especially because I lost out when the Craftsman sets were blown out a year or so ago.

They look like these: http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/p-37732-12-pc-combination-internalexternal-snap-ring-pliers-set.aspx

From what I read Lang Tools is who manufactures the pliers, and KASTAR was one of their brands that they are consolidating.

From a previous GJ discussion:

I would like to clarify a few things that were in the posts above and put some minds at ease regarding Lang Tools. The ownership has not changed. The Lang family has owned A&E Hand Tools since its inception in 1932. It was my Great Grandfather Dan Lang who founded the business and invented the ratcheting box wrench. We have been manufacturing quality tools in Racine, WI ever since. Most of the products in Lang Tools product line are made in U.S.A. The rethreader sets are as well as the snap ring pliers.

In 2011 we announced that our previous brands of Kastar, HiTech, and Star Products would be consolidated into one more meaningful name, Lang Tools. This allows us and our customers to have a consolidated and uniform shelf presence.

Thanks to all the loyal customers out there supporting Made in the U.S. products!

How do you find the amazon beats items?

Sears is still beating Amazon by 15% on some items on the product page. They stopped on a bunch of other items 2 days ago but I lucked into discovering adding the gearwrench socket knocks 15% off again :rocker:

I had a $20 back in points on $150.00 coupon....so I found:

Yost 103 - 3" Heavy Duty Machinists' Vise (Made in USA) Amazon: $212.95
Sears: Using SAVE15 and adding the magic GearWrench socket, price before tax was $166.01 and I got $23 back in points aswell :bounce:

I'm waiting for amazon to drop the price on the Forged Steel Vises, and then sears to price match, -15%, then -$15.... could get a 6in 90,000 PSI strength for vise for $200!

Not sure on COO, yet, will update!

I found one kind of sketchy site say they were from Taiwan. I sent a message to Yost and I'll wait to see what they say.

The Ridgid Forged steel vise is made in germany, and looks very similar, but is only rated at 75,000 PSI, compared to the Yost 90,000 PSI.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001T9J68I/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The bessey forged vise is made in Turkey, and doesn't look similar to the Yost/Ridigd, but is also rated at 90,000 PSI.
http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-Heavy-Duty-Drop-Forged-Vise/T25644

Even if the Yost is made in Taiwan...... It's hard to go wrong with a 90,000 PSI tensile strength vise (seeing as how the expensive USA made cast iron ones are only 65,000 from Yost). It also comes with a 5 year warranty, which gives me confidence over those imported box store brands that have 90 days...

EDIT: Got a reply to my email (on a Sunday nonetheless!)

"Call Ryan on Monday to discuss further the merits of the FSV-6.

Taiwan. USA recognizes Taiwan as a TAA (Trade Act Agreement) Compliant country. Labors in Taiwan cost more due to stringent labor laws set up to protect workers and guarantee a safe work place. Labor laws are lax in China so companies exploit such and hire cheap, less skilled and less knowledgeable workers. Result is less consistency in quality in Made in China products. Taiwan's quality is superior to China's quality"

I'll probably chat them up tomorrow and see what they say. They obviously don't put as much confidence in the FSV vises as they do their iron American made (5 year warranty v lifetime respectively).

Taiwan is ok in my book. They are a military and economic ally to the U.S. similar to South Korea. As my dad says, "that's good chinese".

Received no puller. Only the socket.

UPS guy dropped off a .84¢ socket. Nothing else.

Yeah they ship the sockets by themselves. It probably cost more to ship the socket than what they charge for it lol

Every time I order anything Gearwrench from Sears it's drop shipped from Apex. Works for me, since it only takes a day or two to get here from them with the free standard shipping.
