I recently had a new garage built and have been reading every last post I can trying to figure out which flooring I want to do.
Details about the new garage is that it is 22x24 and the new concrete has had plenty of time to cure. I am looking to do all the work am pretty handy so no worries there. The garage will be used for parking the cars and some household carpentry projects so light to medium use. I am looking for something simple easy to maintain and long lasting with minimal upkeep. So after a month of reading I come seeking final answers to those with knowledge!
Currently I am leaning towards simple sealer, with maybe some color (DeltaDye?). A few products stand out here on the forums but here is where I am looking to get more information because I am not able to find all the details. Several people across many forums have recommended HD6525MMA, and ideally I would want a sealer that I can just touch up when areas start to wear and it bonds well, instead of regrinding everything. So a few questions on that:
- What is the difference between HD6525MMA, HD6600MMA and SEC Sealer?
- I do like the high gloss look but are there downsides compared to a Matte finish?
- Have others used a gloss finish and was it too slippery? Live in the PNW so lots of rain.
There is also Ghostshield 8510 product that I see being talked about but again could use some more information on the longevity and how easy it is to fix worn spots. What is the difference in Ghostshield and HD6XXXMMA?
If Time and Money were not an issue, then my preferred method would be tile. It looks great, its durable, easy to maintain and like others have mentioned it is the king of floors.
I have looked into Epoxy and the other Polyurea products which are great solution but a little more costly, Also what i have gathered is that when they start to deteriorate that you have to grind the floor and redo everything, there is no way to easily patch the deteriorated spots. If I am mistaken please let me know.
