I've tried searching (yeah, i'm a noob)

I have a FR396 (32 tooth, QuickRelease) Can I put a SR80 rebuilt kit in for an 80 count gear? It's a 2010 with the screw-heads on the chrome side like the new ones.

FR396 ???? there is no FR396.

Did you mean FR936 ? :headscrat

If so , it is 36 tooth not 32 and there are no upgrades you can do to it, the Dual 80 style ratchets are different.

Also the SR80 is a 1/2" drive ratchet so that kit definitely won't fit and neither will the 3/8" drive FR80 as I stated the dual 80's are completely different internally and will not fit any other ratchets.

For the record there are no " tooth upgrades " for the 900 or 800 series ratchets.

Also if you go to the thread mentioned above and go to the Snap On page that hofferwood posted about, be aware that there are MANY mistakes in that listing showing the wrong repair kits.

Contact SO directly for a kit. You will get the latest kit which will have any applicable upgrades (more teeth) or perhaps a complete new ratchet......

Why ?
He didn't say there was anything wrong with his ratchet .
He was asking if he could put an 80 tooth gear in it , which he can't.
As far as putting a rebuild kit in it there are no " tooth upgrades " for it or any 900 or 800 series ratchet.

If it needs rebuilt get the RKRFR936 kit from Snap On , see link.
