so ratcheting open end wrenches

I was looking on ebay and saw snap on ratcheting open end wrenches
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?item_ID=15380&group_ID=2581. They seem like they could be a good idea. Any input on if they are worth it?

I have a few of those in craftsman.. they always seemed kinda "gimicky" I have a set of the original "speed wrench" ones as well. Just seems like I can never get enough torque and frankly just find myself slipping on the nut more than loosinging. Its not rounding just not grabbing well. I dunno I'd pass.

I've never felt a need for them. Perhaps others have. I'm sure there might be a need for a ratcheting open end but, I've gotten along without it and I've always found other stuff to buy. Your results may vary.

I bought some at bargain prices on eBay and found them useful for plumbing applications where threading something takes more force than you can generate with your fingers due to compound, teflon tape, or tapered threads. If you find yourself doing that type of stuff on a regular basis they're a luxury, otherwise buy the next thing on your list...

I have a cheap napa set which I use for brake lines. Once I break free the line with a line wrench I swap to the napa ratcheting open end to speed things up. It can save a good amount of time. The napa wrenches I have are short which comes in handy in tight places, they are about half the length of the Craftsmans I have seen

There is a seller on ebay who had a bunch of these sets for $5 a set. I picked up both the metric and standard and it ended up being about $15 after shipping.

They are a nice luxury to have but I wouldn't spend big $ on this style unless you did hydraulic/plumbing work a lot.

they are some of my favorite wrenches to use.
I still cannot figure out why everyone is so gaga over the ratcheting (gearwrench) type of wrench when these will basically do the same thing, they are just the older version of it. of course these have no moving parts to go bad. the have also been a big help in tight places
