SO tool/ truck experience

I have several dealers I deal with and for different reasons but there is one guy in particular I like. He's a no bs, cash talks kinda guy. He also has two routes and is always stocked to the hilt. Rare he has to order something.

A while back I got two older flex head ratchets at a pawn shop. They were 3/8" long flex and a 1/2" long flex. Both heads were sloppy and loose.

So I get on the truck:

1) I get the new flyer
2) I warranty a 1/2 wrench
3) ask about buying pins to tighten the heads up on the ratchets
4) ask about the ct561
5) ask about the new 100 tooth swivel head ratchet.

Now the deals start.

I leave the truck with:

1) a sf80 & flf80 replacing the 1/2 & 3/8 ratchets
2) the ct561
3) a new fhnf100
4) He gave me 2 pairs of socks for Christmas (they're awesome, wearing now)
5) Baseball Cap (aint street legal hat)

For under $300

I'm still smiling.

My dealer is a similar type of guy. I like him, and I got 2 pairs of socks too. First think I looked for was COO. Made in USA. :)

Cash does go far when negotiating with my dealer as well.

haven't used it yet. I will use it during the week and report back. I was looking for the Milwaukee cause I have the m12 driver but I like the trigger on this a little better. I may have to try the Milwaukee though. They have a nice car changer set up for when your on the go.

Where I am now first dealer went down the tube, gave our stop back to the old guy still close by and he was a really nice guy, even went to watch our race series but he died. Then replaced him with a ex-Fed-Ex delivery truck driver that did not even know what tools were but had thought S-o was a good biz to be in from a franchise show S-O was at, he was painful to deal with for about 3 to 4 years then went belly up. Then the last guy was an ex dealer mechanic and just did not get along with alot of people plus a shrinking area you could see it failing atleast two years ago if not longer. No we have none.

There are several successful SO dealers close by. I deal with two of them. The local guy is great but his trade account is maxxed out and I am waiting on stuff for 1 month. It pisses me off but I just let my pocket do the talking. He also is almost always empty and needs to order alot.

My Mac guy has the Milwaukee on his truck and swears I will be happier with it. He is a really good guy, and seems to be straight forward with me. He told me to buy the CT4850 over what he had.

Please let me know what your thoughts are next week on it. Thanks.

I'm a newbie here so please forgive my naivete.

So you can pick up any worn out rusted SO tool and there is a good chance a truck will warranty the item? Sounds like a good way to go out of business. Or is that why the cost of SO tools is so high to begin with?

My wife can return just about anything. But I would have a hard time going to the local truck with some old tool I found in a thrift or pawn shop and expecting a replacement. There must be more to it. Like you have to be at least a regular paying customer that has built up some goodwill with the truck?

I have a relationship with all of them. Let's just say I spread the wealth. I also hit them up evenly for warranty stuff.

I didn't actually think he would replace them but I thought it would be awesome if he did. When he did, I was ecstatic. I told him where I got them and he said Merry Christmas. :D

If his truck is empty and he credit is maxed out and takes along time to order stuff, I think we need to see how long he will be successful and I would be thinking he might be on the way out ???

Thats why I don't spend a lot with him.

yes and no, but it's mainly because of direct marketing and truck credit.
