So when installing plastic tile, does one remove the baseboard?

I'm just about to pull the trigger here, I'm almost completely decided on Daytona tiles. I'm also giving the idea of Bigfoot tile, the flexible rubbery one, a last look. At this point, the main reason I'm not doing the Bigfoot tile is that it is a 13x13 product. My garage is 262 inches wide, which is 21 tiles and leaves 2 inches. Since I'm really ****, I want my pattern centered, which actually means 1 inch left on each side. So I would have a 1 inch piece down the wall on either side and I don't know if that's feasible or even do-able.
I was noticing that alot of folks here seem to replace their baseboard with that vinyl type for bathrooms (great idea, by the way), so if I do that I will have a bit bigger leftover area to work with.
Opinions,
Annette

Are the Daytona tiles made from a softer/flexible material? I was going to go with Racedeck but I don't want to deal with that "clack clack" sound as I'm walking. That would drive me bonkers.

From what I understand the Daytona tiles are a hard plastic, just like the Racedeck. I just got my quote back from them and he's quoted me 2.50 per sf including shipping.
The Bigfoot Rubber tiles are a flexible tile.
I have Lock-tile rubber tiles in my basement and they are much quieter to walk on. I really love them and would put them in my garage except they have a "puzzle" edge, which is fine if you are doing all one color, but if you want to do a pattern, not so much.
The Bigfoot Rubber tiles have a straight edge, much cooler, but I really need more colors than they offer, I could possibly make it work with what they have, though.

Here's a pic of my Lock-tiles during install, excuse the drywall dust on everything, but it shows the puzzle edge.

You could go look at samples at the local hardware store, or contact a company like Johnsonite. They have a zillion options, since they produce many residential and commercial products. They even have a rubber base that comes out 3" for use in gyms etc, it's called Vent-Cove. So check out there site and ask a rep what they have that has a toe that comes out 1"+

PS: I'm not a rep or anything but my fiancee is in the business and had me check out there site for stuff in my garage.

I put the baseboards on after I installed my Race Deck floor. By the way, I would not recommend a soft rubber of vinyl of rubber garage floor, they will buckle up like crazy in when the sun hits it or temperature changes. If you are worried about the "clacky" sound, put landscape felt under the floor tiles. Have you seen a sample of the BiG foot or Daytona tiles in compared to Race Deck. I opted for Race Deck which cost me about $150 more for the entire garage, but there seemed to be a huge difference and for something that was going in my garage, a $150 seemed a non issue
just my $.02

I'm really going with Daytona from a design standpoint. I prefer the tread pattern on their tile as opposed to the diamond track pattern on the Racedeck.

Their pattern is interesting, my issue with that tile is the colors looked washed out to me and they seemed to be of lesser quality, but depending on what you are doing in your garage, they may be just fine
I would recommend getting a sample of both and I believe Race Deck has a few other patterns too?
Good Luck:beer:

Yep, Racedeck also has a circle pattern. While I love the look of a circle pattern, it is problematic for keeping clean. We have had that pattern in our basement for about 3 years and mopping is a pain. One side of the raised circle always has a residue. When the floor dries, you end up rewiping from the other direction, then that side dries.....While I'm not going to be as worried about it in a garage, I don't want it all over again. My wish is for a levant pattern, but can only find that in the roll out mat or in the VERY high end rubber tiles.

Vetteracer,

I would love to see a photo of your flooring. Which pattern did you get? Do you have problems with clean up/mopping etc..with that pattern?

Cheers.
