So when your wife asks you what tools or equipment can I get you, you know you picked the right wife! She asked me this am, pick something out you really want so I can get it for you for s. But it,s not just s, this summer she bought me a new metal lathe & wanted to get me a tractor I've been talking about for our place upstate. Sometimes I am just humbled by her good nature & always wanting do things for her family & friends & putting up with me, I truly am blessed by having her as my wife. Not to mention she loves to go offroading, getting muddy, snowmobiling & she has her own street bike, did I mention cooking? Some things in life you can't put a price on, & with her it's not about money or material stuff, it's about enjoying every day with each other & knowing we raised our kids to be good, respectful people.

My father in law was a truck driver who owned and maintained his own truck, and as a youngster my wife helped him often--so she understands tools and often encourages me to get a tool that would help me accomplish something. She's not so encouraging about the old drills that I collect, but at least she doesn't get upset about them (and she does bring home interesting oddities from garage sales quite often).

Been married 40 years...wifey has asked for many things. A Planner for our 14th anniversary (so I could build some furniture she wanted), a Sthil chain saw to cut some threes down that screwed up her view...and the best one a tractor with a backhoe so the kids could build a vegetable garden...

For the first 40 years or so, I never bought anything decent for myself. So one Christmas I decided I had made it enough to have a decent 20v battery powered drill. I'd never had one before, or really any sort of power screwdriver better than a black and decker that cost $25. They put it on sale for Christmas, with a coupon ($200) I showed it to my wife and said "this drill is what I want for Christmas". She said "I'm not buying you that" and I said "wait right here." I got in the car, drove to the store, and bought one. I came back and said "Accessories for this drill are what I want for Christmas.

That's how my wife always looked at it. When I was racing and spending a lot of time and money on the car she'd tell her friends that at least she always knew where I was and what I was doing. Better than me being in a bar somewhere doing who knows what.

She agrees and says get whatever you want you've needed a new one for years. So in July i factory ordered a new F350 just arrived in the middle of November. So last week I come across a used ZX270 excavator I've been looking for the right one for over a year. Go look at it without telling the wife, negotiate the price with vendor. Send wife a text showing what i found and the price she replies in under a minute saying savings account can handle it grab it. Been with her 38 years we run a company together and spend almost every waking minute together working on projects. Met her when i was engaged to someone else that didn't work out thank god.

That's exactly how me and my wife are. I work with a fella that has to check in with his wife before he spends money on lunch...

This is great, I too am very fortunate to have a great wife. We've been married 24 years. I got my shop finished and came home to be self employed 2 years ago. She works the office for me answering phones, scheduling, and paperwork. She still manages to put up with my **** and we get along fine. She even removed the old toilet last night and almost got the new one installed by herself by the time I came up from the shop!!

My wife has no problem with me buying good tools. When I ask for clearance, her first question is, what is this tool going to build for her?

Yeah yeah, I ask my wife first when making tool purchases. She handles the books and knows what's in the budget. (yes I'm one of those slobs that doesn't have piles of money laying around. So things have to be planned.) I usually get to pick up said item in a month or so if not in a rush.

P.S. Still waiting on that wood planer though. Mostly my fault, I can't seem to pull the trigger on one when I don't need it at that time. Even thou the money is there. But when I do need one the finances are too tight. Oh well.

I was wondering if there are any female members? It's great see women into this stuff, I don't think my wife would participate on here, but she always wants to help, not afraid to get dirty. In fact I love it when she gets involved, she has a good eye & offers up great solutions. On another note I did leave a page open with a sunex 20 ton press on it, I wonder if she'll notice???

When enough of the 6 kids were reasonably independent my wife went back to work, mostly to pay for a garage. Yup, she went back to work to buy me a garage, complete with indoor basketball. All she wanted was a place to park the car out of the snow. But even now my oldest son has taken over that space as he tries to work his way through school with carpentry. She does not complain. . .she gets it.

Of course I check with her about larger purchases. She handles the books and needs to keep track of expenses, after all, she the one who buys what the family needs.

And yup, after 31 years of marriage she's still a babe.
