We lost a special lady recently, Laura Pitney. She was the spear head that kept the tool swaps around here alive, the events calendar and more are back online thanks to Alex.
I can vouch for the swap meets in SoCal that there are wood working, Machining, forging and regular hand held tools around at each one. I've been going to these for a number of years and watched as Irvine and Pasadena went away (and Corona came aboard). We needs to keep these swaps alive around the country (click on "widen the range" button to find more across the country), go.....enjoy and buy some tools.
