I was looking at getting a new socket set, from BGS or Vigor, and I’ve discovered there are 2 variations of socket design on offer with their sets. I’m wondering if one design is preferable to the other.

‘Power Torque’ (pretty standard looking)

‘Super Lock’ (wave profile, they call it)

Which should I go for?

That super lock, while new to me, looks like it makes it about impossible to round off the fastener, but that seems more like something 12 point would need?

I have gray pneumatic similar to that super lock profile they can be a pain in the *** because fasteners like to get stuck in them

Super lock appears to have the radius cut corners to provide for off corner fastener engagement.

The power torque reminds me of the old metwrench stuff that had six lobes to engage the center of each side of 6 point bolt head.

I would opt for the super lock type.

This is true.
On the other hand there is an advantage from "superlock" profile sockets when there are rounded fasteners they will work.
But for every day use I would choose "Power Torque" because with them it is easier to work.

Super Lock sockets can be driven into a fastener while the power tool is running. Since it turns the flats and not corners it will not damage the fasteners.

Definitely you should go for ‘Super Lock’ (wave profile ) is the best socket that anyone can use, you cannot rould a bolt with that

I have them and i've tested them in many ways, they rock !
I've seen peoples bought them 10 years ago and they still have it, saying that they would never use another normal socket again.
