It seems like the USA company Mechanic's Time Savers has been out done by the Taiwanese. The Taiwanese had the bright idea of labeling their magnetic socket holders with size markings.

Nice concept. I'd love to have MTS style holders for my sockets. I do have the 1/4" sets like your link, in both SAE and metric. But, they don't come close to holding complete sets for the 3/8" and 1/2" drive. That's the problem with essentially any socket holders.

I might have to look for some plastic bars and mill out my own holders. Would be time consuming, but could at least match them to the sockets. For instance, my 1/2" drive SAE set goes from 3/8" to 1 1/2", by 16/ths, with about five pieces of 32/nds also. That's 23 sockets; the standard holder will take 16 of them. Similarly, in 3/8" drive I have some 32/nds sockets, and smaller and larger than the standard range. So, I end up with a half dozen extra that won't fit in the standard holders.

So, my socket drawer ends up looking like a rummage bin. Some MTS holders, some steel trays, some peg type holders, some small metal boxes, some twist lock, some rails. I guess I'll never have one of the perfectly arranged showcases like I see exhibited on this board. It's hard to find tailored storage for the 550+ sockets that I've seen fit to clutter my box with.

Ha!, those Ares will never fly for me. Do you have any idea how long it took me to find both shallow and deep in both a 15 and 5/8 socket so my Hansen tray wouldn't have an empty peg......huh?,......do ya!!

Damn those are cool though but like was already pointed out my socket collections have far exceeded what's Available at this point other then like say Ernst rails.

There's presently a buy-one, 30% off 2nd item, promotion on the Ares.
Anyone know if this can be used multiple times? I don't see a 'one per customer' restriction in the details.

Thanks for posting this Wamsutta, I've been looking for just this kind of item. I purchased all six and with the promotion got $40 off the total. Awesome!

I like the look of those Ares socket holders and might give them a try on the next box I put together as I really won't have anything more than some basic socket sets in it.
