I really don't need new sets of sockets, though I am tempted to buy a set just for these holders. I like the footprint of these organizers. Can anybody think of something similar that I can buy just as a holder?

What brand of sockets are they?

Get a hold of the company...."Say, I've got a few sets of your sockets and the storage cases have cracked, broke etc. Can I buy some new ones?"

oem tools, though great neck makes something similar that may work with all of my more traditionally shaped sockets.

I also already emailed them to ask if they would sell the holders on their own.

Took me a second to read to logo since I didn't realize the sockets were upside down. Brand appears to be OEM Tools.

the old taiwan made sets were blow molded.these are thin like snap on trays without a magnet.

Looks like vintage Snap-On trays... dad used them for years in his cart.

The older Great Necks are blow molded, I have one . Good quality storage, the sockets are my junkyard set, the cases are stuffed with Snappy & SK. The pic has a flared edge that makes me think " thin"

I think the 1/4" set they pictured have the blow molded trays, but the 3/8" in my picture is the cheaper thin one. Judging buy appearance.

Really any brand of tray with this small of a footprint is what I want.

Below looks like it is blow molded.

how much? and possibly more sizes?

I think somebody could do some business here. This beats my idea of taking some wood and drilling our appropriate sized holes as close as possible. This style of socket trays are my holy grail.

If those posted are lying flat instead of standing, I think I would prefer this type instead:

Ares socket holder

or

Torin Socket Holder

Mechanic's Time Saver has some similar to this and I'm sure a lot of other brands do too. Making home-made ones out of wood is another option...but it would be time consuming.

I bought the Harbor Freight socket trays and I'm pretty happy with them, I don't typically move my tools out of the garage/toolbox so it's nice to keep everything organized. I have some bare spots at the moment though, and they drive me bonkers! Guess I'll have to just buy some sockets to keep them full... I'm ultimately going to buy a second set (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" for $10 @ HF) to segregate between 6pt and 12pt, maybe they'd be a decent option?

That style of socket holder is ok, they just take up too much room. If you look at all the dead space between the sockets. If I were to buy a set of that style these are what I would buy though... I like the aesthetics more, but would wait till they went on sale.

They are more at an angle than flat. I like the ones you sent, but again they have a bunch of dead space. I am trying to organize a full set of 12pt and nearly full set of 6 pt. The less room taken up that doesn't have a socket in it the better. Socket rails are an option, but prefer something the socket sets in for ease of grabbing one handed, and the ability to see the socket size that rails don't quite offer.

I did not read all the post, and this might be apples to oranges, but after trying all different types of socket organization I cannot beat VIM mag-rail TL.

Let it be known that I would use the VIM twist lock plastic if I had to throw them in a bag and take them out to the field. But I don't do that often and all my stuff stays in my home box and the farthest it goes is out to the driveway

I looked at those on ToolTopia! They looked like a fantastic piece, but the cost and wait for shipping vs getting them the same day at HF was what really sold me. I don't have a ton of tools though, so it wasn't such a big deal to have some wasted space -- when things start to get tight though, I definitely like the Hansen ones. For a while I was using the blow-molded cases that my tools came in unfolded, but that began to take up too much space so now I've got things in organizers and I'm trying to condense a little.

Maybe combine rails with facom "le tag" socket identifiers or something similar. I made a socket organizer out of wood a couple of years ago that eliminated almost all dead space, but it was extremely time consuming. Eventually once I re-organized other boxes and moved more sockets into my cart, I just started using rails and put them somewhat close together. I find that I don't really need to see the sizes on sockets because I've used them so frequently I can normally pick out the correct one quickly by just "eyeballing" them.

If I didn't already have full sets of sockets I would be tempted to purchase a set of those. The knurling around the socket really looks like it would be nice to have, I can see where they would be a pain to keep clean.

Since I very seldom remove a whole set of sockets out of my box at one time, I'm very happy with the Westling Machine holders. They are extremely well made, and made in the USA.
