As seen before, these are what I have finally found to work for me, as an everyday storage solution.

This product (got it from tool-topia, but in black) solved numerous issues.

Number one, my favorite storage product WOULD be the sheet-metal holders, with the flip-top. However, they're hard to come by, for all the odd sizes I would need. Plus, when sliding the top piece to the side, the space required increases, and now I have to deal with pushing them around the top of my car so I can get to my sockets.

I had hansen trays. Great concept, however the 1/2 drive ones couldn't fit in the top drawer of my box, and the posts broke off ALL THE TIME.

The clip-style holders are super thin, and fit in my drawers, even loaded with axle-nut sockets. I can mix and match rows and drive sizes. If I need more clips, I go to harbor freight, and buy a 0.99 socket rail, harvest 15-20 clips, and move on. The only down side, is that after sitting unmoved for a month or so, in a humid shop, some of the odd-sizes can get kinda stuck. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier.
