OK so I have always used the socket rails and I am getting annoyed with the clips always breaking and wrestling them on and off. Have been looking at the Lisle socket holders http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=3221&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
I am worried cause i have used these http://www.mactools.com/Product/tabid/120/productid/319281/variantid/310040/Default.aspx and they have magnetized my tools I hate that has any one noticed that with the socket holders??? Or should I i just get these http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...group_ID=21044&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
Thanks Kevin

Hansen trays.

Never thought of the downside of magnetizing with the Lisle/magnetic trays, does it do it to sockets?

I guess it depends on where the sockets are going. I like the magnetic ones to carry under the car with me, but in drawers I prefer the Hansen trays. I have the Lisle magnetic ones that are very similar to the Snap-On you posted, and haven't noticed them magnetizing the sockets. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, only that I haven't noticed. The MAC bin you posted likely has a very strong magnet (my Crafstman ones do) compared to a magnetic socket tray. I almost never use the magnetic part bins anymore... I much prefer large muffin tins (can keep parts separate, no magnetization, and they're cheap).

The Hansen trays are great for organization, but they're not the best if you need to take your sockets somewhere, like under a car.
I recently picked up a set of kobalt socket rails that have been treating me nicely. They've got a detent ball so I don't have to have a wrestling match every time I want to use a socket, but they're plastic, so I'm not sure how well they'll hold up in the long run.
I've never had the magnetized socket holders, but from what I've heard, they're not bad.

I clicked on that Kobalt link above and that f*ckin thing took over my computer, I had to close down to stop it.

I had the Lisle magnetic holders for a while. I had to get rid of them because if you looked at them funny the sockets would fall off. It WAS convenient to take with you under a car, but them falling off wasn't. I switched to Hansen socket holders and haven't looked back. I also bought a service cart that I can move close to the work so I don't need to remove the trays from the cart.

i've been slowly phasing out my metal rails in favor of the hanson trays. i really like the ease of use and being able to read the sizes on the peg. not as portable but i can live with that. :)

if its for your stationary tool box just get a tray like hansen. The problem with the socket holders like the lisle one you listed is that all sockets are not created equal in depth or width so you'll encounter sockets too long/fat or skinny/tall for the preset holder.
