Socket Identification help please

1/4 drive, marked "Companion CR-V China". I'm familiar with Sears Companion line. It's a 6pt. with two sides stretched -- what the heck is it for? sorry for the crappy phone pics...

The stretch area held a spring...it's a drive socket for 1/4" bits.
