socket list help?

I would like to get a list of sockets smallest to largest taped to the side of tool box that has sae and metric.
Example:
1/4,4,5,5/16,6, etc
But in their correct order. Tried google but that didn't help. Anybody have what I'm Talking about or where I can find one?

I always had trouble trying to figure out what sizes came next in the SAE lineup.. Then a buddy of mine told me to always turn things into 16ths.

For example: 1/8" is 2/16", 3/16", 1/4" is 4/16", 5/16", 3/8" is 6/16", 7/16", 1/2" is 8/16", 9/16", 5/8" is 10/16"... etc. Itll help you organize it without much more help than that.

Metric is pretty self explanatory.. I would hope.

I got that down pat, plus I have Hansen style trays. What I'm talking about is sae and metric in the same list.
Like 1/2,12,13,9/16,14 etc

For example: 1/8" is 2/16", 3/16", 1/4" is 4/16", 5/16", 3/8" is 6/16", 7/16", 1/2" is 8/16", 9/16", 5/8" is 10/16"... etc. Itll help you organize it without much more help than that.

I'm not sure why you would want that, but the long version would be to do the math yourself. Just divide the metric sizes by 25.4 to get the inch size, or each mm is roughly .03937".

2. Make document with metric and SAE sizes in numerical order.
3. Profit!

Yes but in a graduating list. Like the other examples: 1/2,12mm,13mm,9/16,14mm

the purpose is when you searching for an sae wrench/ socket and you really need a metric. Like 1/2 too small 9/16 too big.

oh, like mixing all the SAE and Metrics together and listing them in ascending order. Never seen a list put together that way, but I'd be in for one as well. Nothing you couldn't figure out, but it would certainly take some of the thinking out of it.

if anything, i can say...3/8 and 10 are roughly similar, 13 and 1/2, 9/16 and 14, 5/8 and 15, 19 and 3/4 are dead on the same, 22 and 7/8, 24 and 15/16, 25 and 1...and those are all the ones i deal with haha

I understand dividing the size by 25.4. But that gives a decimal like .5511811. Then where would you get that to convert to /16 size?

the sockets are kept separate, its a reference list I wanna combine. Lol

ToolsX2, I think with a little more real world experience this list will rapidly be redundant.

I suspect you already have most all common sizes and a few dupes too.
I work out of a small tin with a 3/8" set. SAE and metrics ranging from 1/4" to 7/8" and 8 - 22mm A few gaps in there too. Using it 6 days a week there are so very few jobs I was unable to accomplish with just that. The half inch set I carry has 16 sockets total and does the same for me within it's range.
With a little experience you can do a lot of work with fewer tools than you thought you might need.

I could see where this would come in handy. Say I have the list typed up from smallest to biggest with metric and sae combined in the list. I have a bolt that I know is 14mm but is rusted and slightly rounded and the socket wont grab, I would like to know the next step smaller socket which would be in sae to hammer on and hopefully remove the rusted nut.

I have almost every socket to fill 3 drives to fill my sockets trays. That's not their issue. I'm bout to give up here

My list is only sockets and comes in several formats so it's easy to pick one. I have one taped inside the lid of each of my tool boxes, but that list includes sizes for hex keys as well.

Got it all wrote down with common sence sockets. Now just to buy a label maker and viola! No more uhh... is 17 close to 13/16? Lol. I'm easily amused. You made my day. Lol. Well, night technically.

(Need a label maker to mark me and my dads tool drawers
His because he's getting up there at 61, me for when I'm under the vehicle shade treeing it and my fiance usually helps gopher tools. Gets old saying 3rd drawer down. Lol.)
