You don't have to stick with just one solution.

I have Hanson trays, magnetic storage, socket rails, locking socket pegs, and plastic socket rails.

I like the plastic craftsman rails. it all comes down to personal preference. I hate metal rails, the mechanics timesaver ones get way too few of sockets on for space used, hansons skip sizes and are a ***** when you tip one. I have magnetic ones at work, and like them, since pretty much everything on a plane is non-magnetic. At home, I work with steel all the time, so magnetic anything *****.

how do hansons skip sizes, i can't see on skipped size on my trays. 6 mm-20 mm on the 3/8" metric, even includes 4.5 and 5.5 mm

I think it's a combination of issues with the Hansons. You'll never use a 20mm socket but, there's no peg for a 21 or 22mm which are common sizes you may use depending on what you work on. The Hansons also take up more space than two rails. However, use what you like, it's your setup.

I use Lisle magnetic organizers . I like them but not everyone will.. It's a personal preference. They do take up some room though.

I use hansens. THey skip sizes that are odd like 9/32, 11/32, 25/32, 23mm,26mm, etc. I have one of those cheap socket rails for all the weird sizes. And they never get used.

Indeed, I like them for home. But at work I have to use the hansens, With all the metal work I had a drawer full of dust in like a day and every thing cover in grindings. :(

I tried getting magnetic bolt treys. They are always so gross and covered in the grinding dust as well.

I use the ernst socket rails, and really like them. They are compact in the toolbox, and you can label each rail with highly visable stickers so you know what size you are grabbing.

I love Lock-a-Sockets. The magnetic base keeps them secured to the drawer, and even if they tip over when opening or closing the sockets won't fall off.

I just wish they weren't twenty bucks each.

i wish tool distributors would sell socket sets containing every size in the hansen socket holders. they always skip one or 2 of the sockets and it looks bad

I use a combination of all the mentioned above. I like the Hansen trays the best. I used a metal reamer on the few sockets I had that did not fit pegs on the Hansen trays, you could use a file or drill bit if you don't have a reamer set.
