Has anyone tried to add magnets to the Hanson socket organizers to help hold them on the pegs? I'm thinking of gluing some rare earth magnets into the holes on the bases of them to keep them on the pegs better but before I go down this path and piss away time and money I want to see if someone else has already done something similar and what their results were. Thanks guys.

I have two of these(tool truck re-branded at nearly treble this price:() and am pleased with them. The sockets can be locked in place or not.

Haven’t considered adding magnets to a Hanson tray since my tray stays put. Have you considered getting a magnetic tray instead? You can buy a set or individuals from various brands. This is just an example. The base is entirely magnetic so sockets stay put.
I'm already pretty well invested in these and for about 98% of the time they don't move, its that other 2% that makes it a chore. And it's really only my 3/8 drive stuff that I move to the job to work on something with them as a rule.

i just tried with a 3/8 tray, and the neodymium magnets I have handy. I have a collection of 3mm thick magnets, of various diamters. I took the largest diameter that would fit in the hole, and used the maximum number that would fit, but let the tray stay flat, and put them into the holes. shallow sockets bigger than 12mm could stay when inverted, deep bigger than 15 or 16. (I didn't glue, just let the socket hold them in place, and then flipped it over. ). I consider that a failure, and repeat my suggestion of ernst twist lock trays. I have some tekton sockets that came on them. they have two parts, the actual rails, and then a tray to hold the rails in the box. ernst.jpg

the labels are stickers, you have to put them on (or not). Not as nice as the labeled pegs of the hanson, but good enough, I'd think. (I actually haven't put them on, so I don't know how long they'd hold up etc. ). I will take a rail or two out, and carry it to the job. Works fine, no spills. Density in the drawer is pretty much the same as the hansen set.

For taking back and forth to the job site it might be worth investing in another set of sockets in a blow molded case. I like Tekton’s cases a lot. As much as hate that Icon rips off other companies’ IP this master set with the removable foam trays is pretty sweet and it’s 40% off in store right now.

Hansen peg organizers are ill suited for this, in my humble opinion. Too fragile. I’m surprised yours haven’t broken from tipping over yet.

I’d keep a set of 3/8” semideeps on a magnetic socket rail and have that dedicated for mobile work. You got your toolbox socket trays set up how you like them, why mess that up? Just my $0.02

This is the GJ way honestly. If you don't have at least duplicates of everything you're not doing it right.

I think the only reason they don't tip over in the box is because they are packed so tightly in there they can't flip over or move.

I priced up what it would cost for the toolgrid, for my tools. Ended up cheaper to get a 3D printer.
I found it not that bad price-wise, given the amount I spend on tools... :p good little organization system imo.

These are very good. They are a little spendy when not on sale though. I got 6 more for $13.00each a few weeks ago. The magnets are great. The 1/2 inch version stands up easily with deep impact sockets in a carts that moves frequently. They never fall over. The tension balls are good and can easily remove the socket off the rail one handed. If you need more clips the Olsa and Ares clips sold on Amazon are the same. I like these better than the Olsa rails. Normal prices is $21.99

Various cheapo manufacturers have sold those and/or packaged them with their socket sets over the years. The really cheap ones would draw blood when you tried to get your sockets off. I banned them from my shop 20+ years ago.

Jeez, those things are so bad, HF used to give them away for free. :(
They are nothing special but I made them work for my needs.
Some scrap 2x4 and these cut to length and screwed onto the block.

Down the road I will upgrade, for now I prefer to buy more tools.

Yes, and the pegs also. So the prints begins!! 8 done, number 9 printing right now, and bazillion left to go.

Actually only 30 left or so. Then I'll start on the pegs IMG_8075.jpg

Is that a P1S? I just put an order for one in last week!

What nozzle size did you print the 6x6 boards at?

What's the blue tri tool in the back? Looks pretty neat.
