[4 FN 27]

I also really like the custom socket racks many of the guys on here have made. Especially like @4 FN 27 versions.

@Grant Gunderson thank you!!! It is a labor of love.

I have dabbled in the foam cutting it on the Water jet. Works great and keeps the tools from moving around in the Trailer Tool Box.








Over the weekend I started playing with 3D printed Racks for odd stuff...

Yes, the Ernst twist locks work great with deep sockets of any size as long as your drawer is deep enough. They are very secure.

PERFECT! Thank you @designer485 . Almost went for post style - couldn't wrap head around empty posts. I know, I'm weird. Are yours 13 or 19"? Look amazing.

Another option is the mts lock a socket. Aluminum rail and plastic post. They are more substantial than the Ernest in my opinion.

@shawhite Those have appealed ! Never held one in hand. They spin freely? I know snap has their version - been curious about them. Haven’t gotten anything yet.. ordering tonight.

Unsure how the Lock-a-socket works - I hate pulling sockets off detents. The Ernst 1/4 turn and off is the way...

13in for everything right now. I may need to get a few 18in rails for some larger 1/2 drive sets.

You won't have empty posts, just remove unused ones from that rail and use them on there rails where you do need them. You can also mix and match drive sizes on the same rail where needed.

MTS makes them for snap-on. I actually have both and can not tell them apart other than the name. When the lock a socket is turned to unlock there is no detent the socket slides on and off. When it’s turned 1/4 turn to lock the socket will not come off. Only draw back I have is the spacing on the 1/4 drive is larger than I care for but you can’t have everything. I actually cut my rails down to minimize lost space.

I’m not a fan of trays that look you into a configuration and specific size sockets. There’s no versatility to it and what happens if you have a 4.5mm socket? Or a 22mm?

What if you want to put 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 drive on one rail (eg hex socket bit set)?

As far as magnetism goes I like and do not like it. I like that the rail secures itself to the box so that they stay put when opening/shutting the drawers but I do not like that they attract metal shavings and could magnetize the sockets (are CR-V magnetic?).

I build a bed rack for my truck with a buddy. For the life of me I cannot get the little metal shavings off my magnetic socket rails to save my life.

Try an air compressor with a blow gun.

i get that. kinda like a booger that goes from finger to finger and just won't let go!
