Socket Organizing tray depth

I’ve looked at numerous threads and seen ideas on how people organize their sockets. My issue is with my current setup my sockets are laid out in their original plastic carrying boxes (below the table) easy to find however quite annoying as I need to bend down every time. I find with my tool chest I may have issues with using the simple socket rail sets screwed to a 1/4” plywood as the sockets would stick out past the depth of the actual tray.

See the images attached. Is there a certain tray that the sockets are meant to go into? My current line up;

Top opening is miscellaneous items
Screw drivers
Socket extensions/ couple of extra ratchets, adapters etc.
Wrenches
Drill bits etc
Pliers
Hammers and pry bars, files etc.

The bottom trays are just bigger items that need the size and depth of trays to store.

Anyways I’m looking for some ideas what you guys recommended. Taking out the sockets and just tossing them in a tray will just be a mess to find the correct size when needed.

We have no idea the height of your drawers, or your sockets. Maybe if you tell us the max height of organizer you can use we can give you some options....

Although most of mine are in the trays they came in and some are on rails I always liked the Lisle trays the other guys had. I've got several other styles but the Lisle ones where they lay flat always seemed the easiest option both for clearance and retention and the handle so you can just pick up and go always seemed like a great design.

Here is my latest installment on socket trays, a vertical version for 1/4" drive, handling sizes 5/32 to 9/16" in eleven increments. A small project started last winter and finished up yesterday.

Found some Husky 9/16" sockets a while ago and bought a few to complete my sets. Never seen them before........ my sets originally stopped at 1/2"
