I visit this site daily and love it. Lots of interesting people and topics. I am in the process of changing my main tool boxes over to Hansen style socket trays.
In the process I was reflecting on how well my modified socket rails have served me. I have used this system for well over 20 years. The sockets stay organized and do not tip over. I use 1/8" x 3/4" flat bar for 1/4" and 3/8" sockets 1" for the 1/2" sockets. Just cut the flat bar and socket rail to desired length, drill 5/16 holes in socket rail and plug weld the rails to the bar. I do not believe I have ever seen this posted here before and hope that someone here will find it as useful as I have.
By the way I have tried both the Hansen and Harbor Freight trays and in my opinion the Harbor freight trays are more efficient. They also cost way less!
